View Full Version : Rubbing noise when on Full Lock on 3.0D Quattro
I have a rubbing noise ONLY when on Full Lock - in either direction. The noise only appears when the accelerator is pressed, with no gas the noise disappears. Speed has no bearing on the level of noise, it appears when accelerating.
Any ideas?
My dealership is mystified.

Welcome to VWAF.
Which size of tyres are fitted? Is it loud enough to record?

Not sure how this helps as the noise disappears when the foot is OFF the accelerator i.e. coasting and then reappears when the accelerator is re-applied. The noise is definitely not from the tyres.
Might be the centre diff. My A7 had what I would describe as a mild rumbling sound when on full lock and was diagnosed as a faulty centre diff. Necessitated a gearbox change to resolve (a £7k spare part), so make sure it's sorted before the warranty expires!

Certainly could be either of the two gearbox located differentials, it has been a known condition for years.
