Hi guys,

need a little help figuring out what these cables and boxes are for...

while poking my finger through a hole (from what I believed would be a parrot or something like that) in the tray at the top of centre console I felt a cable so I pulled it up.

Pics reveal all what I found when I took the tray out... Can anyone shed any light for me please ?

i am hoping that the female ended one is 2.5mm aux?

And I'm pretty sure in thinking that the left box which has 'GPS' on it isn't for the nav system as that should be on roof/aerial or windscreen... Am I correct? (Just going off where my mk4 sat nav was). The right hand side box does not have any markings and all the three cables go down the side of centre console.

any help appreciated, thanks

Michael

p.s sorry about the upside down photo, it keeps turning it for some reason when I don't want it to.

Okay the left box is definitely a GPS antenna, this would suggest either the original has failed or your MFD2(?) has been retrofitted.

If thats a 2.5mm hole I think thats a parrot measurement and could be for a microphone of some sort, sounds to me someone has installed the parrot then removed it, but left all the wires behind!

Yep, looks like half an aftermarket radio/bluetooth fit. You are 3/4 of the way to getting the radio out, just one piece of trim and 4 screws to go. So you can either trace it all back and see what's superflous or just leave it in-situ. Personally, I'd do the trace just in case someone had connected any un-fused power behind the dash.

Play your cards right and you might find the rest of the Parrot. The microphone might already be concealed in the roof console (like mine). Connecting a bluetooth kit to a VW head unit is easy peasy. If you have MFSW there's an option to completely integrate with it which is much cheaper and better than the official VW kit.

Hi again guys, thanks for the replies.
well after work today I have taken the centre console out, these are the photos I took....

now then 2.5mm aux cable wasn't connected to anything so pulled it out, the Goldie colour ended one wasn't either but it ran to the box marked gps so I have left it for now until someone on here can put me straight.
The other black box (on the right) has a cable running to the stereo, so I presume that is also a gps for the sat nav. It's the blue one on the left of the photo.

Would a parrot need gps?
Does anyone know what the Goldie colour ended cable and gps box is for?
Does everything look to be correct with the stereo etc.. It isn't missing anything and all the correct cables?

regards
Michael

The goldie coloured one is probably a redundant gps or mobile phone antenna connection or there was a gps tracker fitted at one time
The blue connection is the gps antenna for sure and is the only input for you sat nav gps system
