Hi All, I'm buying a 2012 GTD and they all seem to come with leather. Makes me think that a it waS the last year of the MK6 model so VW included this as an upgrade to entise people to buy like they normally do in the year b4 a new model. Is this the case? What else was standard on the 2012 spec models, are Xeon headlights and taillights standard too after 2011? I am buying of one of the car supermarket giants to save a few K, coming directly from a hire company (thrifty I think) so hard to know exactly what the spec is til it comes!!

Also, I thing I wud probably upgrade myself is the radio to the touchscreen satnav, DCN 510 I think it's called. I see I can get that unit of eBay for about 3-400. Is it just a matter of swooping the old for the new? Will the satnav work ok if I hav the maps card?

Many thanks in advance,

P

Welcome to VWAF

Have a look here at the old model brochures VW still hosts on their website - http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/used/old-brochure

I've had that old brochure link for along time but it only lists May 2009 GTD. I thought it was the 2012 and mk7 Golf GTD that came with leather seats as standard.

Its an RNS-510 which you could fit yourself but you need to find someone with VAG-COM\VCDS to code it.

The mk6 GTD included leather as standard on cars built from around September 2011. Xenon headlamps were never standard on the mk6 GTD; the only mk6 models that got them as standard were the R and the GTI Edition 35.

If your looking at a 2012 model, then it should have the LED tail lights (and LED number plate lights) as standard; mine is a June 2011 build and has them.

LED tail lights was a 2011 change IIRC then heated leather for 2012. Also a lot of the run out GTDs have the Charleston wheels instead of the stock 17in design

You can retrofit any of the *10-series RCD/ RNS units.
