on 23/07 i was involved in a collision where a guy in a 3 series hit the side of my car (moved into me while i was in the inside lane from the outside lane)
the collision caused scratching to the drivers side of my car and dented the drivers door.
when i got to work the folding mirrors would not work - and the keyless system would not work however the next morning the mirrors worked fine. on the weekend i had to take the car on the motorway and found that the steering shook when i went uphill or coasted (no gas)
anyway the car has now been returned to me and i am being told that the car geometry is bang on but the steering still shakes.
The engineers is adament that the keyless locking fault is not due to the accident (this is the engineer employed by my side not the other side - they have admitted liability and have been chasing for invoices!) the garage completing the repais (city centre car care in birmingham) have found 2 faults:
05 - Access and start authorization
8K0907064AE 8k0907064AE
BCM2 1.1 H70 0134
03286 011
Right front exterior door handle touch sensor
Open circuit
Intermittent
03286 007
Right front exterior door handle touch sensor
Short Circuit to ground
static
I demonstated (showed off?) this feature to some family the weekend before the accident so i know it was working, an aunt of mine chose to buy a lower speced micra as she felt the keyless would be unsafe so i showed her how it worked.
the engineer is saying it cannot be accident related as the short circuit could be anywhere in the car
am i being simple by thinking - drivers door involved in collision & fault in drivers do handle = cause becuase of the accident?
there is no visable damage to the wheel or tyre but the garage have offered to look at the wheel shaking issue, but they are not being authorised to look any more into the locking issue.
The solicitors have told me that the decision is final and if i want to take this further i need to get someone independant to have a look, I have spoken to 3 local garages who have all said they are able to fully diagnose the fault and quote on what it would cost to put right but they wouldnt be able to confirm 100% the cause of the failure.
does anyone have any experience of this fault or any expertise in this field to help me? - sorry for the long post!
