Thanks to some already fantastic advice and support from forum users. I'm at the point of now ordering new. Just a couple of points on strategy. - Having now decided some pretty rare options are what I want. Factory order seems sensible. Assuming around 12 weeks build, that puts me about the turn of the year for delivery and an actual 2014 registered car albeit 63 registered. However, although I'm eager for quickest possible delivery, actually, it doesn't really matter if I don't get the car until Feb or March. Best deal is what matters!
Are there any Audi group or dealer end of quarter dates etc I should be aware of? I have been advised the best time to buy is actually in Jan Feb March. Not sure I want to wait that long! However if the deals on offer at that time of year are much better I could be persuaded!
Previous advice on other threads recommends going into dealership with actual drivethedeal or orangewheels quotes. I assume the price quoted on these sites varies according to time of year/targets as well. My intention is to go finance incentive route and pay off immediately - again as advised on another thread. Does anyone know if these Audi group incentives are year round on offer or again month dependant?
Finally. If the local, or perhaps national? Do they deal by phone??? Refuse to price match to online. Ive gone through the DTD configurator as if buying. The process on options confuses me. I know which paid for options to tick. Confusion arises on standard £ 0.00 cost options such as "sound system with 10 speakers £0.00" This is standard I thought, also such items as Xenon headlights. Other non-cost extras such as model designation deletion are also there! No idea if I should just ignore these or if I'll be missing something upon delivery, and without the help of a dealer if this is the route I go, I might make a silly error.
My final spec is Diesel 177 multitronic SLine saloon, In Pearl Daytona Grey. Extras - Tech pack advanced, storage and lighting packs and heated front seats. Discount of £8800 to list price on DTD currently.
Thanks in advance of any advice or real world experiences.

Funny, I'm in the exact same position. Right down to model, colour and spec with the exception of storage and lighting packs - I can live without them. Daytona grey is definitely the best :-)
On the DTD website the £0.00 options usually just mean that they're no cost options or standard.
I was at my local dealer at the weekend and the best he initially offered was £6,000 off a brand new in stock car. This included the £2,250 audi finance contribution. I'd told him about the deals on the Internet but he said that I'd probably find out that it's too good to be true.
Did you consider the Black Edition? The difference between the two models is only £1,443 on DTD and for that you get privacy glass and the Bose sound on top of the styling. The only thing that puts me off that is the 20" alloys and the ride. I test drove an S Line so unfortunately don't know if the wheels ruin the car.

I recently put down a deposit on an a3 sportback with a bit of discount then found out about orange wheels. I went back to my dealer and said I can get the car for £900 less (i think it was). Anyway he went away and thought about it then matched the price. I never mentioned orange wheels I just said it was another dealer.

I always start my negotiations with the phrase, "Now, have you heard of the internet?", that usually gets them going in the right direction!

I quoted Orange Wheels price and my local dealer got within £200 for a 2.0 tdi Black Edition with a few low cost extras. This was £8000 less than list. Well happy with that, and still from local dealer. Would have paid a little more to reduce the waiting, it's killing me. Not due until end Oct. Estimated Build week is 38 (w/c 16th Sept).
Some dealers say OW is a scam, one local (ish) dealer wouldn't even give me a price (full stop) once I mentioned OW, their loss. Just make sure you try a few different dealers but be sure they're not from the same franchise. It's not a scam, just, you may need to travel a little distance but still refered to a willing dealer that will do their price. I believe that all the finalnegotiation etc is done with the dealer that they find.

We got £1650 off the on the road price which I didn't think was bad. It's only a 1.4 sport though.

hopgog - I was in dealer's yesterday starting negotiation for my purchase and was told the current finance offer will finish at the end of September. This could just be salesmanship to force my timescales but it is the end of the Q. There might be a bigger better new scheme from 1st Oct, probably needs someone on the inside to get a reliable view.

Thanks Och. I suspect they are all scrabbling to meet targets now at Q end. However, The thing to consider is how much you might lose/ gain on any potential car being a late 2013 63 plate against an actual 2014 63 plate year car. Both will be the same 2014 audi my14. In effect, the later car becomes a year younger in future from a resale point of view. My thought is that perhaps around Christmas, when people are hanging on for the 14 registration plate. They will almost certainly be as, if not more desperate then. I really don't know though, hence my post.

Depends on how long you plan to keep the car. If you keep your cars for 6 or 8 years (which I do) then the extra 'theoretical' year older does not play into the residuals as much as mileage and overall condition do...
Agreed. And price difference is more based on reg changes than calendar year changes. As long as it's a MY2014, the only difference left is a car 3-4 months younger.

Och
Standard sales ruse to get you to order pronto. They might not be lying however; often they will be replaced with the same or better offer - sometimes it will genuinely disappear.

Hi.
I always say that I don't haggle. I run an electrical company and I don't drop my prices. I work on if I can do for £95 rather than £100 then I would of quoted £95 and that's why we are flat out. If I a job goes out to tender you do not have the opportunity to lower prices if others are cheaper than you the cheaper contractor just gets the order. they always ask what is the best price you have seen and I reply by saying you need to do your best. If you can then later match a cheaper deal then I still will not order from you as I think you are trying to rip people off by over charging and walk away. If the price right I ll order right now.
I tried this with merc and bmw last year they quoted me around £120 per month over the best deal online when I told them how much I can get it online they said they can match I just got up a walked away with the rep chasing me and I just remained them of the walking away bit above.
Audi on the hand offered me the same price OW so I signed there and then.

There are some scam brokers out there who register the car in a company name for 6 months to qualify for fleet discounts. It is then re-registered in the buyers name but in effect you become the second registered keeper. Very dodgy and borderline illegal. There could be a big issue if the company went bust and receivers tried to claim ownership.
Thankfully DtD and OWW don't play that game. I got more that £10k off my Allroad with DtD.

The offers seem to change regularly, especially on A7's which are now getting ridiculous. One factor is European/Global car sales levels, which were bad in August. As the production lines keep going (until a decision to stop them - 4 day week etc), then the cars need to be sold and the prices come down. The trouble is the numbers are always reported in arrears so you don't really know when car sales might pick up again and the discounts start to dwindle. That said anytime around now is not going to to be a bad time to buy a new car, a lot of manufacturers are struggling. A noticable exception is Range Rover who, surprisingly, have actually started making some decent stuff, the new lighter Range Rovers are actually quite nice but owning one more than the warranty period might be expensive, you just don't know.
My particular favourite on struggling cars is the old Vauxhall Zafira which is still made in a factory in Germany, which GM (Opel/Vauxhall) want to shut down, but the unions won't let them. So they keep banging out 7 seat Vauxhall Zafira's with a lifetime 100,000 mile warranty and the offer this month is £10,500 (extra for Metalic paint) but with £500 of fuel - love it. If you need a bus it's a great deal.
