From the A4 forum but probably affects us more as the keyless ignition is standard.

Might be sorely tempted to put some motion-sensor floodlights on the drive having read this. Especially as the council here now swith the street lighting off at midnight.

*edit* in fact just ordered one http://www.amazon.co.uk/GuardCam-LED-Combined-Security-Camera-System/dp/B007J4AFG4/ref=pd_cp_light_1 DIY job for next weekend.

floodlights will just make it easier for them to see what they are at. all you can really do is fit a pedal lock or steering lock to slow them down and a bollard behind the car to stop them driving off or chain the car to the ground. even if a floodlight did wake you up, what are you going to do, take on 4 blokes who will go down if they get caught ??

If it stops them stealing your pride and joy I wouldn't mind! Any deterrent to stop them targeting your car.

Nice to know that the bloke who had his pride and joy take ( mr witte ) has Audi's support ( not )

If they admit there is a problem it puts them in a tricky spot so I think this will be what their lawyers tell them to say.

I am sure behid the scenes they will be working on a fix.

the problem is, they (audi) are up against pro's. people that steal top end cars for a very good living. they have access to lots of money and have very clever people working for them. they steal a car by getting the keys then use that to work out how to get passed all the security and get away with it in minimal time. whatever the manufacturers come up with will be beaten. all it does it get rid of the opportunists or makes them steal cars at gunpoint, forcing the driver out and getting the car and key.
and what problem do audi have to admit to ? the same one as every other manufacturer has, except not everything is as desirable. not many pros' nicking kia ceed's.

I know Audi won't admit there is a problem and as you say it would then open the flood gates for every Audi that gets nicked. But how many times has a car been repaired under with audi good will because of a fault that every one knows about but Audi won't accept there is a fault. It would have helped I'm sure if Audi did something for the bloke ( mr witte ) in some way after spending 60-70k and only 3 months old and having 6 Audi's before that.
I'm also sure that Audi are trying hard to sort this problem with key-less entry and if anyone wants to nick a car you can't stop that all you can do is slow them down

what are audi expected to do ? he has insurance, they will pay for his loss, he can then buy another audi. maybe audi will give him some free floor mats or a valet or even a free first service, i don't know, but i can't see how they can be held liable. if i was in his position i would be gutted but thankful i had insurance and would just get another car, i certainly wouldn't be looking towards the manufacturer for anything. it got nicked at the end of the day, by someone clever enough to steal it. thats what you have insurance for.

BMW had this problem but a recall update on the security system helped and slowed the amount of BMW being stolen. I bet all the Audi drivers with key-less entry are waiting for the update on the car security system as it now Audi's that are being stolen. Anyone heard of a recall yet nooooooooooooo.
They seem to be trying to get into the car without breaking the glass. But ended up having to break the glass to get in then took 90 seconds to nick.

But as I said if they want it they will have it.

if 100 audis get nicked, thats a possible 100 new cars they will sell :)

Zollaf is bang on.

<removed - sensitive info>

To be fair the simple cat 3 steering lock or an obdII port lock although it may not stop them it will slow them down or more on to the next car.

Does this type of theft relate only to the keyless entry option or all A6s with standard keyless go? If they are creating a cloned key through the OBD port then I suspect all A6s may be at risk.

All C7s use keyless go (non door opening tho) to start the car.

All cars regardless of make and model are at risk some more so than others.
Your cars security system is fine nothing is theft proof if they want it bad enough they will get it.

Anything to deter them tho I would be getting if my car was keyless. Disklok etc, ok it may look ugly but it might just put them off targeting your car.

Since the chat has turned into a little too 'revealing' I think we should draw the line there.

I just felt the convo was getting a little too revealing and man-lemans post about the length of time against the two cars could reveal more about what you do and how you do it.
