Hi

I'm New to this forum.

What i would like to know is, how much have customers paid for a brand new AUDI A6 S LINE 2ltr TDI 2013 inc of discounts?

I've seen one priced at just over £35k inc of my chosen options.

I was thinking of maybe asking for 10 to 11% off the price tag

I will be part exchanging my present car plus a £10k deposit

Thanks.

Drivethedeal + orangewheels are you friends... (but no p/x with either I'm afraid)

I think you should be looking for more discount than that. I just ordered an A6 Avant 2.0 tdi multitronic black edition with a few options. OTR price £40445. I got over £5000 discount from the dealer and £2250 deposit contribution from Audi. No px as I'm coming from company car scheme (A5 sport back 2.0 SE manual 2010)
Pretty sure others will have cut a sweeter deal, but I was happy with this.

DTD have this model in their special offers at the moment www.drivethedeal.com - the best discounts on new cars (http://www.drivethedeal.com/specialoffers2009.asp?vans=false) and are listed at 25% off.

These will be stock cars though (you will have to go with their colours/options), but should be available for immediate delivery.

You will be able to get factory orders with your chosen options (which is what I did) but you are looking at 12 weeks lead time and not quite as good a deal (but still 20%+ off). To get the best deals you will need to take out the finance option, but you can pay that off within 14 days without penalty.

I believe they use dealers based in the south and midlands, so it may be worth asking them to use one nearer to you. I didn't and had a long train trip but pleasant drive back!

If you know exactly what you car/options want and don't mind selling your current car privately, I would recommend them.

Thanks very much for the info Olio. I’m amazed at the discount available… £ 7,561 on a manual s-line for example.

I’m looking for a nearly new stock s-line (possibly multitronic) and the prices orangewheels are quoting are the same as low mileage used models in and around Glasgow. They say you have to take Audi finance, but I’m hoping this is at 0% or could I pay it off early with no penalty?

*edit* thanks for the info belly buster ;)

No problem and welcome to the forum. Yes there are big discounts available. I'm sure the main dealers don't want you to know this stuff. Another poster has pointed out the dealers in Scotland have a bit of a monopoly, so discounts are less forthcoming, so you will get a better deal through a broker.

The rate is not 0% but you can pay it off no penalty within 14 days. See this thread: Finance: Right to withdraw (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?145176-Finance-Right-to-withdraw)

Just one other thing while I remember, if you get a stock car, you might want to check if it is a MY13 or MY14 car. Anything buildt after May 2013 will be MY14. There are still some MY13 cars kicking about. It may not bother you but the differences are outlined here: http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?145975-A6-Model-Year-14

Just read through those threads and this forum is saving me thousands and I can go for a new model instead of used. Thanks very much… great forum :D

Dealers up here are definitely overpriced so if (or when) they can’t match it I will go with the best deal from dtd or orange. I see that orange wheels can even offer part exchange.

As for MY13/MY14, can you get the build week in writing from the online companies before agreeing?

Anything built now (custom build - 12 weeks wait) will be MY14. Any stock car you should be entitled to ask what the MY is before you buy. Unless you are planning to get the tech pack or mobile prep high, then the difference is the DAB radio and the power boot (Avant only). Choice is yours then. The MY13 will still be a good car (except it has probably sat on an airfield for 4 months) but just make sure your getting what you're expecting.

The part exchange with OW is only for some brands. They didn't want my Skoda for example.

And DTD was significantly cheaper anyway, so went with them and sold my car privately, so I've really minimised my losses here.

On a car built to order I ended up with about 23% discount. So my new car, built for me and with the options and colour I wanted is actually cheaper than buying one second hand with random age, miles and options.

The difference could also include variations in coding regarding auto brakes, stop start, etc. As well as update to MMI, software or hardware, to enable data via in-dash sim and BT phone at the same time...

A few thoughts.

Audi do a £1000 discount if you part ex a 'premium' vehicle... not sure what brands that includes or what the age limit is. My 05 A6 was included.. obviously the brand was good but he age would definitely have put some dealers off.

You want MY14 build.. or at least DAB . This is going to start to be a deal breaker / add- on cost for resale...
All of the other stuff is based on your needs and how long you need to keep the car for.

Discount levels... get quotes from drivethedeal and orangewheels. Show them to your local dealer (the nice fancy Audi showroom on the way from the airport to the city). The conversation is very simple.
"I'd like to buy this vehicle from you"
"and I would like to bring it back to you for servicing"
"but I can't pay £5k, £7k, £10K over this price to do that.. "
"can you help me find a way to help you ?" :)

And after your local quoted you a best price which is 4 figures away from the online ones, you get back to your computer and click "order that vehicle".

At least that is my experience with all the 6-7 Audi dealers within 40 miles of me.

I’m guessing that’s what will happen. Even if they could match it and make some money on the deal they couldn’t afford for other prospective buyers to hear about it… especially when they have “nearly new” cars on their forecourts at that price. I will give it a go though (start of October) and report back :)

Btw, I noticed that DAB is installed on plenty of 2012/2013 used models. Would this have been a factory or retro fit cost option on a MY13 model? Is it the same as the MY14 DAB unit? I don’t fancy a retro fit module that really needs a better aerial.

DAB is not so much a retro fit, rather an option on MY13 and earlier, and standard on MY14.

It has been an option for at least 7 years as my mate has an 06 A6 (C6) with it on.

That’s great. I thought I spotted a thread on here about cars being brought back to the dealer for a DAB module to be retro fitted… must have been dreaming :)

Thanks again to everybody for the help :biggthump

See my earlier post.. I took DTD and OW quotes to my local dealer and they tried to match.. They KNOW I will go back for servicing and I have bought a few cars from them and done lots of servicing thru them. They got very close to the QW quote and that was good enough for me.
Bottom line is they would like to sell you the vehicle you just need to help them understand that you WILL buy and that THEY have an opportunity to sell. If they don't want to play then just buy with DTD or OW....

Personally I prefer to give my local dealer a chance as I will probably use them for servicing.. .but if they don't want to play...well bidder takes all

I’m definitely going to give it a try, but only Glasgow Audi is close to me. There are also dealers in Ayr, Stirling (25 miles), Edinburgh (40 miles) and Perth (55 miles), but unless there is a worthwhile difference in price I will be getting it serviced in Glasgow anyway and they probably know that.

As previously mentioned they also keep the prices high. Some typical examples:

Audi A6 2.0 TDI (177 PS) S-Line 4dr (http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201309018565363)

Audi A6 2.0 TDI (177 PS) S-Line 4dr (http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201308168349751)

Audi A6 2.0 TDI (177 PS) S-Line Avant 5dr (http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201308028119644)

Your local dealer might be the one DTD/OW deals with anyway ;) I would prefer to buy locally so I will give it a try though.

Yeah I have driven past the Glasgow dealership numerous times in taxis (hence my airport comment earlier).. you need to "lay the law down" with them gently. Get your quotes. PRINTED, go for a visit and explain that you would rather buy from them .. BUT

If they don't want to do business then that is their problem.. something that you might weave into the conversation.... my sales guy said to me (and I paraphrase) "My manager gets really upset when he see's a new Audi driving around town and it does not have our licence plate on it"... So ask him... would you prefer me to bring in a sasanach import or buy it locally? (and YES a I am joking :) )

When Audi announced the fitting of DAB as standard for MY14 they also announced that they would be offering a retrofit solution for older cars this summer. As yet they have not announced what that solution is (is it the OEM system or some other bolt on) or at what cost. There are also a number of people out there who will retrofit the OEM DAB module

I think convincing the salesguy that you are ready to hand over £30k+ is half the battle of being able to order locally. In the past I've done just as above. Gone into showroom (BMW) with a printed online quote and said if you match that I'll sign some paperwork and give you a deposit before I leave. The guy asked me why he should do this (nicely, he was one of the good ones.) I said because of the above reason and the fact that for every person that does this there are probably 2 or 3 that pay list price because they're too rich or don't care about a couple of grand. He went to speak to his boss then came back, held out his hand, we shook and I'd ordered my car. Job done.

I have a terrible test drive and negotiation example at Wood BMW in Poole which I bore everyone I speak to about. I'll get around to it some other time on here :-) Needless to say I will never, ever give them any of my money now or in the future.

Be very grateful to hear it. I'm not very good at negotiating. Listening to both good and bad examples is a good learning tool. I'm now waiting with bated breath for your story!

Hi, I collect my A6 Phantom Black S-Line 2.0 Tdi on Thursday (19th) from East Kent Audi and have to say that I achieved significant savings - probably greater than you are looking for. There is a £4.5k centre contribution plus £1k bonusif you px an Audi. Also they are prepared to haggle - speak to David Bowler - he seems quite switched on to a deal. Runs until 30th September. Other centres were reaching similar figures so I reckon there has never been a better time to treat yourself

Collected my a6 (my2014) black edition almost two weeks ago. Cracking car and got a great deal. Part exchanged my A4 and got 14% off asking price. Deals to be had now. I tried orange-wheels, went through the motions with them and they never called me back. My local Audi dealer however was eager to do a deal.

Hi,
Any chance you could let us know what level of discount you achieved through the main dealer? DTD have 25% off over the A6 range at the moment (built cars not orders) which seems hard to beat...

THanks.

Hi. Don't have the exact figures in front of me but I had 2k in my pcp TT and got just over 10k off in total - so around 8k on a £33,400 car. That must be around the 25% mark.
