As ECP have a good sale on will be stocking up on a few things. The site seems to show a choice of screw on type, and other has the flow and return short pipes connected. Anyone know which I need for a 51 plate 130 sport please?

Anyone know which I need for a 51 plate 130 sport please? you'll need to check 1st and see if it is fitted with the fuel cooler unit , its more than likely is , its held in place with a 13 mm Allen headed bolt , I doubt it will be the standard filter with flow pipes welded to it .

Thanks for that. It does look like just a screw in filter, but hard to say 100% without pulling it apart - at least to me! It's got BDO 127 435 on it, if anyone knows? Will go googling....

Or maybe it starts with an 8...! VW Passat Estate TDI fuel filter 2000-2005 8D0 127 435 GENUINE VW 8D0 127 435 | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Passat-Estate-TDI-fuel-filter-2000-2005-8D0-127-435-GENUINE-VW-8D0-127-435-/151118065115?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item232f56addb) Good old ebay.

22362it should look like this on the top,That is the fuel cooler , £19 is way over priced IMHO . I think I paid £9 for my last filter , if you get a 13mm bolt and 2 nuts with a washer inbetween you can make yourself a 13mm key to remove the bolt . loosen the screw pictured and the whole unit pulls out , watch for those pipes though

Yeah that's the fella :D As I said, ECP have a sale on - £7.80 for a Bosch, can't be bad. Thanks for the tip on that bolt, dunno if any of my drain hex key things will fit, if not that will come in very handy.

I'm useless too, but I don't turn up in jeans worth more than my car, and white trainers and t-shirt - so I know who's gonna be under the car with crap dropping in their eyes!

What an easy 5 minute job! Old filter element was pretty black so worth doing I guess. I see you mention a fuel cooler? Could barely hold the old filter when removing it it was so hot.
