Hello one and all

I have a 06 1.8t avant and its developed the low oil pressure warning and the engine is making an awful racket. The car is no longer being used and im resigned to the knowledge its going to be costly http://www.audiforums.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

I have found many engine re builders/ re conditioners which look decent outfits with proffessional looking websites etc etc but when I do a bit of digging there is endless unhappy customers on the web (http://www.audiforums.com/forum/#) stating terrible experiences they have suffered with them...cars not being fixed properly, not on time, prices going way above the original quote etc http://www.audiforums.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

I would say the car is worth about £5500 in good running order these days so I dont want to throw 1000's at it

If there is any others on here who have had a similar problem, what did you end up doing??

Im toying with buying a secondhand engine from a damaged car and trust to luck, these garages are having me nervous!

If anyone has replaced their (http://www.audiforums.com/forum/#) engines, what options is there? Will the 2.0t version go in as a direct replacement, or must it be a 1.8 from the same year??

Sorry for the long winded post, hopefully someone can advise

Many thanks in advance, Darren

Not much help but I'd take all reviews with a pinch of salt.
Most people don't seek out forums or messageboards to say their car was fixed for the agreed price. But they will if they feel they've been over charged or works have taken too long.
You also only get one side and some people have selective hearing and/or memories!!!

Sorry I can't help with your technical questions but best of luck in getting it fixed!
