Hi all, I have a a4 s line with the led lights. My car has devloped a issue where the passenger side beam would stay on for around 2 mins, then fail and turn itself off, but if i switch the lights off then back on, it will work for another 2 mins. The bulb also looks very blue when compared to the driver side.
Rang up the main dealer, they want £280 just to replace the bulb... What a joke!!

Should be easy to change yourself, think its a D1S bulb from looking online.
However, swap both bulbs around and check it actually is the bulb, not a module or something sinister.

We had this issue and I'm sorry to say yes it is the lamp and there isn't much of a choice who you pay to get it done...
halfords advertise a lamp for the B8 but its a D2S and won't work... I found this out the hard way.
audi weren't too clever in giving me the right price or advice to start with but came good in the end for about £120!
You can buy the lamp for about £95 and fit it yourself (even though Audi say you can't) but I discovered how much of a pain it is to remove and replace the headlight unit and gave up with this option.
you can read more about my experience here: Xenon lamp failure, private reg and general chat about my Avant... (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?141155-Xenon-lamp-failure-private-reg-and-general-chat-about-my-Avant)
good luck! :)

Thanks Phil. Im going to do a bit of research and see what kind of deal I can find. I wouldnt mind paying Audi £120 for the bulb.

You can get the proper bulbs here; Replacement D3S HID bulbs (http://www.hids4u.co.uk/d3s-xenon-hid-bulbs/) (You can get even cheaper if you shop around even more).
The headlight is not actually that hard to remove, you undo the 3 bolts (dont fully take them out), reach behind and undo the main electrical plug, then slide it forwards and out. It can be slightly fiddly the first time you do it and its adviseable to put a thin towel or similar on the bumper to avoid the risk of scratching. Once its out, you will see how to open it and swap the bulbs.
(Its basically the same to remove as the non Xenon headlight and it tells you how to do those in the manual!)
