Hi All Recently treated myself to an Audi TT MK1 Roadster but have found that when it rains really hard (as it has done a few times this summer!) the carpet on the drivers side gets wet. This is only in the front foot well and not the rear.

I have checked the 'plastic pools' and drainage pipes in the back of the car and these are all working fine. Water flows straight out both sides of the car.
I have checked that the windows do not leak and that the door seals work and not leak into the car.
I put a hosepipe onto the car for a good 10 mins with me inside and couldn't see any incoming water from any direction.

I have read a few posts about drainage pipes at the front of the car? Does anyone know how I can access them - if they exist. Or any ideas where I can look for incoming water.

oh dear...posted in August and no answer ?!

I f you haven't solved it yet....you can get to the front drain holes by taking of the windshield wipers, and lift the plastic cover... then you'll be able to access both sides.

btw, you said when you put water in the plastic drain pipes in the rear, water flows out...where does it flow out, if it does in front of the REAR wheel, it's fine....if it runs out in behind the FRONT wheel, you've found the error. the water drains into e bodywork, and flows into the carpet ( not all the water, but some of it ).

I have had this on the TT Mk2 but not the Mk1. I suppose it could be the wiring conduit box below the wiper motor, this has a seal which on the Golf 4 can leak water into the drivers footwell.

Thanks for the replies but I think that I have found and cured the problem.
It was draining at the rear of the car so didn't think it was getting in at the back.
I took off the covers and removed wiper blades and poured on more water to see if I could see anything. The windscreen at the very bottom corner was looking wet but on the inside!
My conclusion was that there was a small amount of water entering the car at this point and then dropping into the drivers foot well. Couldn't see anything from inside as the dash is higher than the bottom of screen. Car has been dry since sealing the screen, even with this manic weather we are having!
