New to this lads and I need help. My old warhorse has died , engine is mullered. Lots of people have said Audi 100 engines will fit , golf engines will fit etc..... I know nothing about Audi/Vag overlap so I'm stuck , just been trying to find an Audi 2.0 engine , loads of diesels but no 2.0 petrol. Not sure if its injection but here's all the details - 1993 Audi 80 , 1984cc. Engine No. ABT174434 , Chassis No. WAUZZZ8CZPA219670. Reg Plate K509OAP. I'd love to get her back on the road , so any help at all with details would be savage. I'm living in Ireland now and most of them here are diesels and not too many like mine around.

The engine code is the first 3 letters, ABT in your case. I think this is the single point injection model (looks like a carb with big round air filter at first glance) - approx 90hp. They are not as common as the ABK multipoint injection which might fit and work, but prob has 'wilder' cam profile giving 115hp. If you're stuck might be worth trying one just use ABT bits where they differ. I don't imagine an ABT would shift a 100 model, prob an equivalent in mk3 golf/vento but not sure what it is? Sump/pickup pipe clutch and flywheel will all be different off a transverse mount type engine
