Has anyone any experience with parking up, locking the vehicle (no doubt) and returning 30 minutes later to find all glass down and sun roof open?
Luckily nothing stolen and it is a good job it was not raining!
I know it was locked and the glass was up. I am not dreaming!
Thanks for any advice. Golf has14,000 miles only.

is it possible that someone did attempt (successfully) to break in.

It is unlikly as there was nothing missing and all windows were lowered. The sunroof was also fully open.
The car was on my drive and our dog would have heard anyone going near the car.
I am convinced there is a technical problem and will return to the delaler tomorrow.
As a precaution I have tried to disable the convenance features in the Multi Function Device.
So the one shot windows down should not function. It is better that than have the windows go down on their own again.
I guess the sunroof would be worse in the rain!
Thanks

i had a mk3 golf back in the late 90's, a company car it was. i came down to it one morning to find all the windows open and maybe the sunroof, can't remember. i thought it was strange until i noticed the damage to the door around the handle and the hole where once a sony radio lived. it had the total closure thingy, hold the key in unlock and it wound all the windows down.
that would explain your case, but there could also be another reason as you suggest, but not one i know of.

Don't panic - I had this happen once, when it was snowing - all windows down, but nothing stolen. (I don't have a sunroof).

It took me a while to figure it out, but if you hold down the unlock button on your key remote you might be able to recreate the result.

As it turned out, I was helping a friend wire up a surround sound amp in his house which involved crawling behind the back of the tv on the floor, and I must have been leaning on my car key which opened up the car and all the windows.

The car was parked quite a distance away and this all worked through the walls too.
So is it possible you may have accidentally squashed the unlock button on your car keys when inside the house?

As Steve says, it's the remote. Just hold down the open door button and it will wind down the windows. It's a great way to get your car turned into a swimming pool in a heavy storm - been there, done that. Holding lock will wind the windows up.

You can turn it off in the options menu on the display. If your car is right at the bottom of the spec list it may not be possible and a dealer will have to do it, but if you've got a sunroof I suspect you also have the DIY option.

Thanks. I turned off the option in the MFD screen and it has not happened since.
It is a good feature but not well delivered!

The first car I had with total closure on was a 1990 E30 325, and all the Beemers seem to have it too. I had the same problem a few weeks ago when I was doing a job in the garage and was knelt down, when I went outside all the windows were down on my Astravan. I didn't even know they had total enclosure on something as basic as my van. Its a great idea as when it's been sunny ( remember those days )
i can keep my thumb on the open button and the windows and sunroof will open to cool the car a little to save you cooking when entering the car.

I've heard of the same problem on other forums.

You need to get your motor scanned for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them.

I had this happen a couple months back, keys were under a cushion, i think i must have leant on the cushion. Oddly the windows were open but not the sunroof. The car was still locked. It would re lock as no one opened the doors.

Had the same problem myself, caused no doubt by putting the key fob in pocket of tight jeans. This can unfortunately depress the buttons and cause the windows to drop. I assume it would do the same
to the sun roof as well.
I explained the problem to my main dealer and that altered the softward in the keyfob [for free!!!] and that was the end of the problem.
