Maybe a daft question but I want to tidy up and paint the brake calipers on my Avant, and also after getting annoyed with using the supplied scissor jack for changing wheels to winters I have invested in a trolley jack.
I know that there are the points marked on the sills with arrows for using the scissor jack but where do you position the much wider trolley jack and where do you position axel stands?
There is only a gap of about 1" by the sill, before the plastic underbody guard begins.
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers
Somebody with some mechanical training will be along soon to answer this question, but I just aim to get my trolley jack under a suspension arm at an angle which leaves it unlikely to slip. Unscientific, but it seems to work! Incidentally, surely even in your neck of the woods it is a little early to be thinking of fitting your winters! Do you run 17s for those?

:pIt's not that cold in the valley's yet! Will probably get them on November time.
Last winter just used the scissor jack, but bought myself a trolley jack as I found one half price.
I managed to get a really cheap set of genuine Audi 5 spoke (the S-line ones found on the pre MY14), got them refurbed, so run 18" Vredestein Wintrac Extreme.
Really want the axel stand info as I pick up my new A4 on Sunday and want to get the calipers painted asap as the brakes on my current car are a right mess.
If you have S Line wheels, i agree that you need to get the calipers painted as they clearly visible. mine are a reasonable match for my Misano red. Will you have room for the chains with 18" wheels!

Are you taking the Michael??? It's the Welsh valleys, not the Alps!!!;)
Quattro + winter tyres is plenty good for me. TBH the main limitation I had last winter was S-Line suspension vs very deep snow
