heated mirrors

Hi Guys

On my mirror stalk i have 3 positions one for left and one for right the middle has a heater mirror picture on it.

How do the heated mirrors work are they on all the time do they work when the heated rear screen comes on or does that switch work them

I think it's only when the frost icon is displayed on the DIS - ie below 5degrees.

On my car they actually seem to be on all the time the stick is in the middle. I read this was the case somewhere else as well. I normally keep the stick out of the middle unless I need them on such as when it's raining and they are covered in water
