RCD 310 anti theft code?

Quick question...

When i got my Golf new in 2010 from the dealers one of my factory accessories was the RCD310 with MDI kit. With this I got the instruction manual but was I also supposed to get a card with the code on it if I needed it? I have seen some radios advertised and many say includes the code and have a card with them.

Suffice to say I never received such and would like to know if I should have.

Just ask vw for the code, they might ask for your v5 and drivers license as ID

Thanks I was going to do that as wanted to upgrade and sell the 310 but didn't want to be faced with them trying to charge me for the code if I should have had it supplied free with the car at purchase. Is it normal to get the code with the car and are they likely to charge for the code?

This has been talked about before if you do a search.

When I picked my car up I said I want the radio code just in case I remove the battery. They said you don't need it as the ecu registers the radio when you reconnect the battery it rechecks the radio and if it matches it carries on working.

I said I've just paid you 25k for a car that comes with a radio I want the radio code. They went away to the service computer and came back with my 4 digit radio code.

Just ask a dealer but take prove of ownership with you.

I had this problem recently when I wanted to upgrade. I needed the code to be able sell the one I had inside my car. It was difficult, I went to one dealer who wouldnt give it to me unless the car asked for it!! A logical argument ensued where I could quite clearly see I was getting nowhere. So I had to drive to another dealer some distance away who were as good as gold and gave me the code! I know where my car is going to be serviced in future.

Had exactly the same problems - the car came back after some warranty work, and the stereo wouldn't work. None of the dealers nearest to me would give me the code....I had to take it there again...called VW who said it was a security measure and even if I provided them with the V5 details, they still wouldn't provide the code! So those of you who have got - well done - I can't get mine.
