Hi guys, new to the MK5 Golf and ive had a good few problems since owning it, previously had an audi a6 c5 avant which was a tough old tractor.

So since owning the car roughly 3 weeks, had a few lights on the dash which appeared, after taking the car for its MOT I was told i needed a passenger side steering rack end (which exlplanied a clunk sound on the passenger over bumps and when turning) as well as a flexi for the exhaust sound as it had a hole in it.

On the way to the garage i realised that the Amber steering wheel light and ESP light came on.

having changed the parts, i noticed the steering was not returning to centre position on its own. I believe this was always the case but only noticed it the.

I also realised that the cars Outside Temperature reads ---

the cars fans both also run constantly. from cold. (even if the econ is selected, they still both run at what seems to be hurricane speed)

and the car took a little longer to start after a few days.

SO i changed the coolant temp sensor 1, which cured nothing.

Changed the oil pressure sensor, and now the car starts first time, although the presure light flashes 5 times.

I realised that the radiator was not original and someone had attached a resistor to where the coolant temp sensor 2 would go, which is why i got a fault code p2185. however the resistor was not connected so when i connected it, it seemed to make the fans behave slightly better.

Main issue is the steering light and ESP, and the Horn does not work also! PLEASE HELP ME, even the esp button doesnt spring back,

Such a nightmare!!

Still, the car drives fine.

i rang vw customer services and they advised me that if the car had a G201 fault then i would get a free diagnostic as well as a repair and if that was not the case i would have to foot my own bill. I am a student

anyone with vcds that can help?

I live in blackburn
