Hi All,

Strange problem I hope you can help me with. I have a 2009 A4 3.0tdi quattro tiptronic which hesitates when ever I pull away. It's most noticeable when the car is still moving, say, when the car in front has turned left and you go to accelerate. It seems to wait for around 3 seconds, with the throttle buried in the carpet, before it decides to move, then all hell lets loose and I catapult up the road, setting a new 0-60 time in the process! The car has been remapped by Richter Sport (who I believe use Superchips) and other than this problem, the car is epic. It always runs on Optimax and its done around 27K miles.

Not sure if it did it before the remap as I had the remap done soon after buying it. I came from a remapped 335d so maybe I'm expecting too much?

Grateful for your views....

Cheers

When was the fuel filter last changed?

Could you post your engine and trans code which can be found on the data sticker in your spare wheel well and inside of your service book.

I think all B8 3.0 TDis auto's were S-Tronic, not tiptronic. S-Tronic needs its gear oil changed every 36/38k religiously - not sure of the number of years (it'll be in your service book) but I still would get it done anyway.

Not sure when the feul filter was last changed - it was serviced at 18K by Audi last year.

Lots of numbers but I think engine is CCWA and trans is LZ9Y

LZ9Y is your colour code - Phantom Black ;)

Trans code should be right beside the engine code, feel free to take a pic but obviously blank your VIN.

When last year was it serviced? Check your book to see what was done.

Ahhh, right. Sorry about that. Trans is KCC KXS.

I think late 2009 plate 3.0 TDI cars got the 'S' tronic. Until then it was the ZF 6 speed (assume from the old B7?). Allroad got the S-tronic 3.0tdi earlier.

I'd add that if behaves like the old ZF gearbox I had in my B7 then Sport mode makes a big difference at low speed in reducing hesitation. I used to use this to make a quicker exit out of junctions - but practice with it somewhere quiet first.

It's the 6 speed Tiptroninc so i'll try the sport mode. It's under Audi warranty so I might take it in for a check up before I change the fuel filter (although I'm sure thats not covered!!).

Thanks for the response - much appreciated

Hi, what was the outcome to this, I’m experiencing the same issue?
