seen this on e bay.

Performance Box Audi A6 2.0 TDI-CR 136 HP Chip tuning diesel new | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Performance-Box-Audi-A6-2-0-TDI-CR-136-HP-Chip-tuning-diesel-new-/130869324298?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e786b6a0a)

does anyone think it would work, could do with extra power, are there any tuning boxes that would work with my car ?

2008 2.0 tdi estate s line currently 140 bhp

i was told my egr valve had a sticky flap, if i replaced it would a new one make a difference in the power ? does a new egr valve need setting ?

sorry for all the questions under 1 post

Considering a proper remap costs at least £200, a box from eBay for £70 seems too good to be true.

Most cheaper boxes are a resistor which tricks the ECU into over/underfuelling. Plenty of posts around here on the subject so you should have enough reading to form a proper opinion.

The consensus is to avoid the cheap ones though.

Everything EGR can be found here > A6 EGR location & removal "how to?" (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?134701-A6-EGR-location-amp-removal-quot-how-to-quot) - start with a fault code scan first.

You will see some gains from a remap, however if you have DPF you're better going for remap and DPF delete which can be had for around £500.

Only then will you free up the max horses since the DPF can be quite restrictive.

first that box wouldn't work on your car because it is designed for the CR engines and you've got a PD engine. Wouldn't even bother with a box, pay a little bit more and get it remapped properly. I paid £430 for mine with DPF removal on my 2010 TDie 136, now produces 184 BHP and 420 nm. And if you want to go all out get your EGR deleted too.

Who done you the map mate ? The new cars have tiny turbochargers which are a ticking time bomb waiting to blow ! 48Bhp from a remap on stock hardware is a little too much to be true imho...
I would not diss tuning boxes either, they need to be consistent in order to pass TUV and most proper ones(type that plugs into the injector harness and increase duration) are much better than many of the shelf remaps ! I don't know how many "pro" remaps i have seen where DTC are turned off in the map so it does not flag a fault code in case of an over-boost condition ! One size fits all is never going to be good enough...

I had mine remapped from 140 - 170 BHP, very noticeable difference along with better MPG. Cost me £170 Also just had my EGR valve replaced. Picked it up off ebay Genuine EGR Valve for Audi A4, A6 2.0 TDI | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181060401152?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649) seriously cheaper than dealer price and genuine item. Then just got my local indy to fit it.......Car running like a dream now !

Who done you the map mate ?

more-bhp in crewe bud, they specialise in Audi/VW/BMW. Maps are created within tolerances of the engine anyway (thats what we're told), so shouldn't cause any damage to the car. Coz mines a tdie with a tiny intercooler it restricts more power being produced, thats why the 170 can get around 220 on remap. Next door but 1 used to have a 2.7 and that was forever blowing turbos but dont think that was mapped.

Agree on all of the above.

If you want more power do it the proper way and get a remap. They're made specifically for each engine, not just a little box with a nice sticker on it.

I'm gonna go for a remap with a rolling road before and after :D , when finally my car stops using spare £££ for just bits to keep it going :p :biglaugh: ...

I've gotta agree on above as well :D, there is the el cheapo box and there is the proper tuning boxes which forum sponsors sell ;) ...

I've also lately been thinking I'd like two custom remaps which I can interchange with something like a STS box being discussed here Link:- Shark Remap imminent :) (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?141993-Shark-Remap-imminent-%29)

I tell a lie, just found my invoice for my re-map. Was £125 at Awesome Gti. I had a Passat previous to my A6 with near enough the same engine. Had a Revo map on that, was a bit too aggressive and also made it smoke a fair bit.

You need to be careful with removing the dpf as in the future there may be changes to the mot regulations which could mean your car will fail due to the nox gas being tested.

^^^So ask them to return the DPF to you for fitting back when/if MOT rules change...sorted! :biglaugh:

Think it's a scare tactic about MOT and DPF. My 25 year old Land Rover diesel used to fly through the emissions test and that was a smokey old bugger!

Just be a little careful tho.

I've just had my 136HP A7 Avant remapped to approx 180HP.

Very noticeable improvement in performance and economy BUT.........

I've now got a very small coolant loss that was never there before!!!!

Reading on the forum I think (and I hope) that it may be an external leak as I dont think my oil is curdling!!

Just a warning - make sure your engine is in good condition first!

I've used tuning boxes before, and they work, but for the Audi I'd recommend a re-map.

Cost me £175 which is (granted) more expensive, but certainly more re-assuring that it's designed for the right purpose.

Cheers

I read it/liked and thanked too and can only suppose that it's either

1) Been deleted by the author, or
2) Been deleted by the Mods for criticising an establishment (perhaps following a complaint from said establishment).

Would be good to know which?

I smell a rate, maybe deleted because it mentioned bad reports for a specific person?

Anyway, what did it say?

1) Been deleted by the author

Author cannot delete ... it was either mods i) at posters request which the chances are low ii) mods due to (x)

I have PDF anyone wanting it PM external email ... also have screen capture video ;) we can go live via youtube :) ...

I felt poster conveyed his experience without digressing into abusive nature and was looking forward to Eshrules messaging company to see their response to the matter ...

Is there anywhere I can read what Eshrules's role is?

Eshrules is a mod, RE duties/role no idea but he(or she :p) has been around from the beginning of VWAF IIRC ...

Usually Esh contacts companies onbehalf of members i) to get the company to respond to give their side ii) perhaps resolve situation between the two parties

The member Akshay who posted that thread does not seem like a spammer but no real idea  ... quick google didn't reveal his story/account on other forums ...

Shall we never know the outcome  ...

The thread has been removed at the request of the company in question.

We are discussing the issue and will report back when we've reached a conclusion.
