Hi everyone,
A newbie poster here so any help would be very grateful, I know this topics been covered hundreds of times but has anyone experienced the roughness of their bkd engine idle changing depending on the angle the vehicle is sitting?. My mk5 golf idles pretty rough regardless of engine temp. But the roughness virtually disappears when the front of the car is higher ie.sitting on a hill facing upwards and vice versa the idle is really bad when the nose is pointing down hill . The car drives fine otherwise . The car has done this since I bought it having only done 40,000 miles .any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I had a problem when I moved to a new house,steep drive.The fuel pump was draining and it would not start next morning.New fuel pump fitting.
Golf 2004 GT TDI.
But mine was parked up hill,yours seems different,but might be a related issue.

Thanks for the reply , not sure whether the fuel pump would be at fault , it starts first turn of the key everytime and runs spot on. Just this bloody shuddering at idle is driving me nuts

I have the same problem!! Slightly rough idle when car is horizontal (but not all the time and not when cold) but when front end is higher, the roughness increases!! Think it might be an engine mount?

Mine is opposite from yours , no roughness when nose of car is higher but lumpy as hell when back end is higher , engine mount sounds like a good place to investigate though , cheers

Early days yet but car has stopped shuddering!! Replaced EGR valve and idle is now smooth on incline or horizontal

Was iy an easy fix . Did you do this yourself ? Is it expensive to replace

£80 and 45 minutes to fit. You need small hands!!

Cheers for the info. Might need a mate to help then cos ive got hands like shovels
