As stated in other threads the only slight regret was not upgrading from the standard 18 inch s-line alloys so for those still pondering here is a pic showing the comparison! These are the PQS.

Make a big difference. I was very close between those alloys and the rotors but ended up with the rotors.

I toyed with the rotors as well but decided with chrome window trim the PQS suited, both look good and certainly better than 18s IMHO. If the car had the 19s I might have stayed with them but I am sorted now!!

They are beautiful wheels. Had them on my A5 Cab for 4 years and delightfully easy to keep clean, but do show the dirt very quickly. Only advice I would give is get a really good sealant on them, as they do scratch quite easily and pit on the leading edge, so try not to use acidic wheel wheel cleaners.

Thanks Kieron

Will do! Must say I'm really chuffed with them.

Cheers!

Far better with the 20's Dave, a big car needs big wheels!

Side note, when you need tyres get in touch with Magowans in Mallusk, done me a great deal on Michelins!

Just ordered a biTdi today, S-line and decided to keep the 18" standard wheels... I agree they look crap and the PQS really change the car, but believe from test drives in 20" and 18" my choice will bring more comfort. Furthermore the tyres are bound to cost less to replace. Also I have taken the free option for the car to be that additional 10mm lower and the sports chassis where it electronically controls drive independently to the rear wheels when cornering.

Everything said I am still on the fence about my wheel choice. Forgetting looks for a moment what are your thoughts on the difference for comfort, noise and performance between 18" and 20"?

Cheers.

Wheels only went on today and to be honest I have only covered about 70 miles but the differences for me are marginal, the ride appears a little firmer and road noise is slightly louder, but grip levels are improved and tyres seem to track about the same as the 18s. I recently came from an A5 sport and the A6 with 20s is still far more comfortable. Best advice I would give is try and get a test drive in an A6 with 20s on to compare and if the 18s appeal more for comfort great! It is all down to personal choice at the end of the day I don't believe I have sacrificed that much to gain great looks, after all they would not make 20s if they were not compatible with the car but clearly they feel 18s are suitable for the s-line so either way you can't loose! It is a fantastic car either way and I'm loving every minute!!

Cheers

Heart wants 20" PQS, head says stick with the standard 18"... head says if it can't win my heart to use the rubber up on the 18's fit with winter tyres and find someone switching out 20" Audi alloys later. Hoping it goes into build very soon, although I suspect a wheel change is unlikely to cause delays...

Just be aware that specifying the 20s will cost less than retro fitting albeit that you can some good offers on tyre and wheels packages, buying used will have the obvious drawback of risks on the condition and originality and used tyres! I should have listened to my heart as I have not settled since buying the car and every time I looked at it, I was reminded of that! But alls well that ends well!

Is there a better (read cheaper) way of getting hold of the 20" wheels than through your dealer? Or are there discounts to be had there?

I fancy the rotors but not at the catalogue price..

Unless you can find the OEM manufacturer, its either spec on the car when ordering or take a punt on a used set, lots available on flea-bay specify Europe when searching most will post to the UK and whilst they may not be perfect there are some clean examples for decent money.

ah good shout. I was only looking uk wide which doesn't throw up too much.

Thanks for the idea.

This might help for ebay in Germany (ebay.de)

Search term ‘Audi A6 4G Original’ will find anything to do with the latest (4G) A6.

To narrow it down to wheels and tyres you can then select ‘Autoreifen and Felgen’ (Tyres and Wheels) from the ‘Katagorien’ offered on the left of the screen. To narrow it even more then select ‘Komplettraeder’( wheel with tyres fitted). There are other options to do with wheel diameter (Zollgroesser) and tyre width (Reifenbreite) you can use to focus in on your needs. Winter tyres are, easy to guess, ‘winterreifen’ and summer tyres are ‘sommerreifen’, again easy to guess the meaning.

Not all sellers accept Paypal ( lots do) and it’s a pain to have to transfer money to a German bank account which will be the alternative form of payment. You also lose the Paypal buyer protection.

In the search results you might see ‘Kein Angaben zum Versand’, this means shipping is not offered. If you see +EUR99 Versand that means shipping to UK costs 99 Euros.

‘Preisvorstellung’ means offers are accepted.

Even if shipping is not offered there's no harm in asking. A question in simple English is usually no problem.

Thanks all - actually quite a lot on the market. Some for very good prices - still a bit much for todays budget but in a few months. hmm....

I've really gone the other way... decided to stick with 18" on the order and have also cancelled the additional sports suspension.

Oddly upgrading the order to include 19" PQ2's instead of 18", reduced the PCP final value after 3 years by £980!! I really don't get why, this would happen. The dealer tells me of all the variables they can change on PCP, the end value is automated by Audi finance.

In this case it was not the additional cost that put me off, just practicality, I would be inviting a less forgiving ride, increasing my tyre cost, increasing risk of damage on broken B roads all in the name of vanity. Of course it's a personal decision, and I know I will be envious of all the bigger rims out there, because they do transform the A6 looks, but I'll be quite content with the BiTDi and hope the sports diff makes up for the wallow!

Agree totally. Just coming out of a Jag XF on 20's and I wouldn't do it again. I think where you live and what your average road conditions are like plays a big part. My new Avant (next week fingers crossed) is on 19's and even at that I'm not sure if I shouldn't have dropped to 18's.

Now I have the car I'am pleased I took the 18", the handling/cornering especially with the sports diff gives more than I expected, and inspires more confidence than any car I have previously driven.

And yes the roads where I live are terrible!

Very nice wheels. They are the same I have optionally spec'ed on my A7 and they look good there so hopefully they will look equally good in 6 weeks time when mine turns up! Not looking forward to tyre replacement time though. Is it true that all 4 tyres wear at the same rate with Quattro?
