Advice/Help please with my 2.0 tdi!

Yesterday I started my car after it had been sat for about 5 hours and the diesel particulate warning symbol appeared, along with the glow plug light flashing. This caused the car to drive extremely sluggish until it got up to temperature. I did as the manual suggests and drove the car above 60kph and above 2000rpm and the light disappeared, but was replaced with the engine light.

Today the same happened. I went for a drive to see what felt different after the glow plug and DPF warnings disappeared;

It feels kind of jolty, like turbo lag but more sudden
the suggested gear change is always telling me to be one below what I normally would, such as at 30mph it's telling me to be in 3rd, whereas normally it's telling me to be in fourth.

I use shell v power, and the cars 50 miles off of its next scheduled service.

Thanks for any help or advice anyone can offer!

Could be a fault DPF pressure sensor, they are very common failing part.

Ideally you need a fault code scan.

I had the exact same symptoms on my A3 - DPF light wouldn't go out, followed by flashing glowplug light then a solid engine light.

Sounds like your car has gone into LIMP mode, I'm guessing that you are getting engine rev restrictions too? Judging by what you've described then I agree with A6_Chris,
sounds like the DPF pressure sensor could be at fault. I'd get it checked sooner rather than later...if your DPF isn't clearing, then its filling up with more and more soot. This can be cleared in a workshop up to a certain point, but if it overfills then you will need a new DPF too which will mean much bigger repair bills.

I'm gonna take it down to the garage today, it should be covered on my warranty which will be a nice relief! Thanks for the advice!
