My Golf GT 170PS diesel has developed an intermittent electrical fault somewhere within the engine management system. Every few days when I start up the glow plug light flashes and I get the Engine Fault - Garage message on the display.
If I drive the thing with this msg then it is effectively like driving without the turbo - I can't hear it spooling up and power is reduced by about 50%. The only way I can clear it is to drive for a 100yds or so and cycle the engine - that usually clears the fault but it always comes back a few days later.
It has been to 3 different dealerships who have done various things such as cleaning the connections to the boost pressure sensor, changed out wiring from the air flow mass sensor to the ECU but the fault comes back within a few weeks or months. It is in my local dealership today but I have little confidence that they will be able to fix it!!
I'm going to be ringing VW UK soon to complain about my 20odd grand of new car that has been beset by reliability problems :zx11: but wondered if anyone with a GT diesel had had any similar problems and managed to sort them!! Help!!!
