Hi all
Broke a driver side front coil spring this week on the 1995 2.6 v6 ABC coupe, on inspection also spotted oil leak from front shock absorber as well:aargh4: the coil spring has colour code band (2 orange + 3 blue) on it, anyone know the part No's ? or if this spring is used on other audi models in the the 2.6 range so i could look for a complete strut from a breaker as a short term solution while i consider upgrading both struts with shocks and springs at later date.
Anybody already running upgraded struts suggestions welcome.
Cheers

Vagcat gives:

895411105C coil spring / for sports-type running gear / 2 paint marks / 3 paint marks
orange blue / ACE: air condit.; manual- gearbox: AAH,ABC

Well the ACE is the 16v so a 4 cyl engine, if that can share suspension with a V6 model, I don't think you will go far wrong getting other springs from a different V6 coupe model. I would suggest, that if you do not get exactly the same one, then get a pair and change both.

895411105D and 895411105F are also used on 2.6/2.8 auto coupes and are also sports type running gear. Sports type running gear is denoted by the code '1BE' on the options list on the vehicle's data sticker. Should be inside the back valance when you lift out the 'oil storage' bin?

the 80 saloon models use springs with different part numbers (there is an extra A or B after the numbers) , but I can't help feeling the front ones would work OK on a coupe. The rear setup is different

I can tell you from experience a lowered coupe on 17" wheels and low profile tyres feels a world away from the standard car, but will drive you insane if you are forced to negotiate speedhumps etc on a regular basis.
It seems really difficult to get a lowering spring set that is not TOO uprated imo. Be aware, that if you choose a big drop i.e more than 40mm, you will need sports type shock absorbers, with shortened piston rods. If these are not used, there is a risk that the piston will 'bottom out' which ruins the shock absorber.
