Beam deflectors.

I have a 2006 Passat fitted with Adaptive Xenon headlights and we are travelling to Germany in a couple of weeks.
I've trawled the net to find out about fitting beam deflectors or headlight protectors and come up with varying answers.
In the handbook it says they can be adjusted by dealer.
Does anyone know the definitive answer to this ?
I'm hoping it's a job I can do myself.

You can mask them or there should be a lever to move the headlamp alignment on the back of the headlamp. In theory if you have swivelling corner lights you should have these stopped by a dealer while driving on the 'wrong' side.
