Hi all.........I am having a new passenger side window fitted by these. I wanted Audi to do it but my insurance.....insist that Auto Glass are equally qualified.......I will be watching like a Hawk.
Anything I should be aware of here...

Just make sure they supply genuine glass - I know of some cases the aftermarket glass they supply is poor quality.
If they fit non-gen glass, mention to your insurance company.

This is becoming a nightmare.....I cannot get through to my insurance.....I cannot get through to Autoglass. they didnt turn up this morning because my window wasnt delivered...I took the morning off work.
Now they are flatly refusing to fit Audi glass....insurance say speak to them...they say speak to insurance.
I have been on the phone for almost three hours in total.
My precious audi is outside with no window...open to anyone who wants to help themselves and open to the pooring rain.
Insurance just dont seem to give a ****.

take car to audi, instruct audi to fit genuine piece of glass. send bill to insurance company. simples. if insurance don't pay, tell the magistrate in the small claims court that it needed doing asap and no one would help you.

I have tried that...they are putting up my excess if Audi do it.
Its pathetic....Autoglass can fit it but I just cant get approval from my insurance.........incidentally...NEVER, NEVER, NEVER insure your Audi with OCTAGON.

so your car is insecure so at risk from theft/damage and the weather and you have no garage in which to put it. then you need to get it asap into secure covered storage, at your insurance company's expense.
personally i would stop beating about the bush and get it to audi asap. if the insurance put your excess up so be it, them to court as they have failed in their duty to get a small claim sorted out properly. you pay the insurance and they work for you. its upto you what happens, to an extent.

Done it.
So why specifically audi glass, I've had no issues whatsoever with non audi used on various cars & infact I found the audi preferred brand, caused me issues with my rear view mirror until I swapped it out for another brand & hasn't been an issue either.

I dont have a rear view mirror on my passenger door window..... but in answer to your question, I have been advised that there can be issues with the non audi glass being slightly different and causing leaks into the passenger footwell. this in turn apparently can get into the CCU and will cause untold complications...especially if it needs replacing..I guess my insurance will not cover that.

I had a genuine window replaced by an autoglass type firm, they brought the wrong windscreen to start, then came back with a genuine window which also had the black tinted top, now my genuine wipers dont agree with the new glass, swopped them for new ones, same issue. looks like its slightly differently shaped glass! I do a lot of motorway miles so will just wait for some more chips and then pay the £60-£80 excess to have a new one and we can start the sordid process all over again!
