Have posted a couple of times a source site for the VW Self Study guides
Yesterday, and just now. But the message just disappears? PM-ed the
site yesterday but no reply. What gives?

Richard - it's due to copyrighted material being unlawfully hosted without VWs permission.
We are awaiting reply from VWs legal department on the matter and will update as we get word back.
Both of your threads are still there, they're just hidden at the minute.

Thaks for the quick reply! Realise there's been, erm difficulties, with Elsawin too.
If someone in admin could say when they've got to do something like that, then it'd help
Without admins like you, knowledge would be totally in the controlled hands of the manufacturers!
Cheers

I removed your first post, lodged a report and contacted the VAG legal department (for the third time) to get confirmation on whether we were ok to allow this content on VWAF.
The slightest hint of anything untoward and we run the risk of having various services suspended, this in turn impacts heavily (financially and otherwise) on the site and ultimately the users.
I personally cannot allow that to happen, without the site and 'admins like me', as you say, the knowledge remains in the hand of the manufacturers.
We were made aware of 'leaked' SSPs back in January when I brought it to the attention of VAG.
I heard nothing so chased them up via email again mid-February.
I've still heard nothing so I've passed it over to Stuart who hopefully has a little more clout.
I sincerely apologise for removing the content and not informing you.

Long, long ago and far, far away a file sharing site hosted the complete Microsoft Certified Professional to MCSE study notes. With interesting results  µShaft got upset and huffed and puffed. But due to the site's location (Belize? hazy memory now) couldn't do much about it immediately. Much later it was found that demand from third world countries for exam and certification facilities had substantially increased, as did their market.
Appreciate your concerns guyz, however it's not your site hosting it's <another> site. Are you under pressure to not even disclose the URL of the <another> site? Hopefully VAG group are not trying to deny owners knowledge about their own vehicle.
In the USA all TSBs are published. And at VWoA's site owners can key in their VIN and get a list of outstanding recalls
Recalls/Campaigns < Protection < Service, Parts, and Accessories < Owners < Volkswagen of America (http://www.vw.com/en/owners/parts-and-accessories/protection/recalls-campaigns.html)
As they say there: "We want to make owning a Volkswagen a great experience for every owner. When the occasional proactive service action or recall must be issued, we want to help you get the problem fixed so you can get right back out on the road without a hassle."
Do hope that VWUK have the same outlook. Looking forward to their reply. Thanks for chasing them up!
Das Auto :moon:
Last year one of the big guns found a link in a member's signature which pointed towards a site of dubious origin.
The first we knew about it was a cancellation of one of our services. No forewarning, no first strike, just a straight cancellation. It took a long process of appeals to have the facility reinstated.
We've had to be extra vigilant since - hence the stance we've taken here.
If you can hang on for just a bit longer, we'll hopefully have a positive answer soon.

Forgot to mention the site where the USA TSBs for B6 are listed.
List seems to cover 2005 to '08-ish
