View Full Version : Are your interior door handles flimsy?

My door handles are not solid. The passenger side squeaks loud every time you pull the door closed. It seems that the plastic part that holds the window switch is the cause of my problems. I had a look at a friend's car today and it was similar, but not as noisy. I tried lubricating it all around but that didn't help. I am not sure I understand how this plastic part is attached on the panel, or if it is possible to remove it and insert some Armaflex tape in there to avoid that annoying plastic rubbing...
I have search a lot but the only thing I manage to find is panel-removal threads.
Any help or advice is welcome!

I would try taking the door card off - not a hard job at all.
I would grease the door puller and possibly buy a replacement handle if you can find one cheap enough online.

You have to remove the door panel then the armrest can be removed from the panel then the switch can be removed from the armrest.
If there's movement causing the squeak then maybe it's been apart before and could do with reassembling more carefully. The ones on my car are fixed pretty solid with no movement or squeaking.

I have been told that the armrest is part of the door panel and that only the plastic section (switch) can come off. If that's not the case there might be a fix.
Thanks again...

Is the armrest screwed onto the door panel from the other side?
