Hi all, was after some advice.

Have put a deposit on a Golf yesterday which i collect later this week. Its listed as a 2010 Golf Plus 1.6 TDI SE.

I love it and cant wait to collect it but on doing a bit of research am completely confused as it looks like a std Golf. Checking on Autotrader etc the Golf Plus seems to have the same wheebase but is taller, has four air vents in the centre consul, is badged Plus, has cup holders on the back of the rear centre consul.

Mine has none of these, it doesnt look any higher, its got just two rect air vents in the middle of the dash. Its got no cup holders and is badged as Golf........

I have searched the number plate and it def says Golf Plus....

Also i need car tax - the garage (a large high volume firm) said it would be £30 Which makes sense if its a Golf but not if its a golf Plus.

I did check on Autotrader and found 4 or 5 examples of 2010/2011 Golfs that where listed as Plus but were identical to mine and so therfore looked like a std golf.

Is it possible the number plate info could be listed wrong or shoudl i be worried ?

Thanks

The plus is taller, not a huge amount more difference than that. Did you want the Plus? The CoG is higher and might make for a less stable ride than a standard Golf, but you'll have more headroom/space in the car.

A quick call to the dealer will clear it up, but if it's wrong with the DVLA, have a chat with the dealer to see what they say - A call to the DVLA might help too. You don't want to be in a position where you need to make an insurance claim for them to wriggle out on a "technicality".

The Plus is taller (3 inches), which significantly alters the overall look of the vehicle. There are circular rear light clusters. The dash is different, mostly the centre part as you've noted, with different air vents (taken from the Tiguan). You almost step up into it. The increase in height makes a negligible difference to handling in my view, unless you're really pushing it - I've had one.

I stand corrected on the handling part.

You definitely need this resolving - if the V5 is incorrect then you may have issues with insurance, getting a policy never mind making a claim.

If the dealer description is incorrect then you just need confirmation that all papaerwork is correct. The fact that the number plate search suggests its a plus makes it appear like a DVLA/V5 error, either that or someone has cloned the number plate from another car (unlikely gien that most big dealers will do a HPI search for outstanding finance, write offs etc etc)

My V5 was originally wrong - It eventually transpired that it was a VW error in the data VW gave to the DVLA. It took a few weeks to get sorted.
