My wife's 1.6 TDi Match had its first service earlier this week and since then it has stopped autoconnecting to her iPhone 4S (running iOS6). If you connect it manually then it all works fine until you leave the car and then it needs to be manually connected again next time. Any ideas? I have tried deleting the profile on both the phone and the car to no avail.

Have you deleted the car from the phone too?
You can do this by pressing the blue button beside each Bluetooth name.
Just reread your post - try searching for car from the phone with the ignition turned on.

Hi Chris, yes I deleted from both car and device and started from scratch. Thinking that they must have done some sort of software update when they did the service which has affected the bluetooth connection bit.

Was there a complaint regarding bluetooth when you put it in for the service ?
Dealer would not carry out any updates unless there was a complaint especially as this would cost them time/money if not being paid for by warranty or the customer - software updates are not complimentry or part of the service schedule so it is probably more coincidence than anything.
Book the car into the dealer to look at it as it may need repair under warranty.

No the Bluetooth was working fine before the car was serviced and wasn't when it came back. Software updates may not be part of the service schedule, however I know from my Audi experiences that if there is a known bug in the software and fix has been made then the software is updated (at least whilst the car is under warranty). I will be phoning the garage this morning to see what they say

Things going from bad to worse. Went out to the car this morning and it had a flat battery, despite being used on a good run yesterday. Wondering now if the bluetooth module has developed a fault and is not powering off. Spoken to the garage who claim they only did the oil service and nothing else on Monday but they need the car for 48 hours to see why the battery went flat (apparently battery issues under warranty require them to follow a specific programme of tests) and atm the earliest they can provide a loan car (at any of their locations) is in 3 weeks time so it is being escalated with Management as I am not too keen for my wife to be playing russian roulette as to whether the car starts or not. Would be better, apparently, if I turned up with car on an AA truck (I am 1 month out of the 12 month VW Assistance programme) as that would give me priority, however I can't see the AA doing that for just a flat battery, a jump start and advice to take it to the dealer seems more likely

In my experience software updates are done automatically because VW specify them not because of a customer complaint.
If it works properly before the service and not afterwards then take it back and get them to fix it.
