Hi All,
after visiting the excellent centre console trim thread, as below...

Centre Console Trim (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?145786-Centre-Console-Trim)

Then the meeting with Mark ( MFGF ) and seeing his gorgeous car with the Brushed Titanium interior, I wanted it, and so went ahead

I used Infinity wraps of BonnyBridge
http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CEQQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.infinitywraps.co.uk%2F&ei=LeeUUeWDOO3U4QS_6YCIBA&usg=AFQjCNGFM2dtUc127I0ZMvSPVWCjF9TDpg&sig2=H7wykBfLLUtXovm4fbcrKw&bvm=bv.46471029,d.bGE

as they are quite close to me, around 7 miles away.

I called and asked them to quote for the centre console area, glovebox trim and all 4 door inserts....£90 all in cash
He did say after I left the car that he would also try to do the dash within that price, but later called to say it was too complicated / time consuming so I left that out, after negotiating a price reduction down to £70 :biglaugh:

I've posted this to share, as it may be useful for any local owners that may be intersted, or for any owners who may be visiting / passing through that like it. I'm sure I could help with drop off / pick ups etc if required.

Please see below my interior before, showing a little wear after 6 years and 103k miles, so a litle rejuvenation was in order I thought..

All in all a very good job for the money and I'm well pleased as the interior has been lifted somewhat :approve:
:approve:

Really impressed with the edge finishing, around corners / bends etc.....much better than I thought

Looks sweet!!! Might find somebody in Bradford to do that to mine, probably cheaper than replacing scratched and scuffed trims

Wow they're looking sweet Jim :-) do you mind me asking, was the original trim smooth metallic type effect or did it have a brushed metal look?

I'm asking because my centre console has some small dents in it, and I'm wondering if this wrapping would match in with my existing door trims etc which all have a brushed metal look.

This is the finish that I currently have

Surely dents would require filling or somesuch before they're wrapped, otherwise they'd simply show through as covered dents?

Mines were fairly smooth.......Any dents etc will show through so would need attention beforehand it you go down this route

Agreed Mark!
Its a very fine wrapping they use.

Oh that looks *very* smart Jim! It looks exactly like the OE brushed aluminium finish did in my C6 facelift. The attention to detail is astonishing - look at those perfect corners on the cup holder lid!

Congrats on a great upgrade! You must be delighted! :)

Thanks Mark...

I have to be honest, I did have some reservations about leaving my car with someone for 3 hours and exactly what the end result would be..........but in all honesty I really couldn't have asked for a better job.

A very good copy of what the OE looks like indeed.

Cheers :D

Thanks for the positive comments guys :beerchug:

Sons Astra H is going in on Monday for an interior re trim in the VXR Piano Black, so he's already drooling over what that will look like.

Well, I can report that a week or so after having the interior done all is well.

After some of the recent work and the mini detail I gave her with the Poorboys Blackhole then Natty blue paste wax, I gave the interior a thorough going over too.

Interior / exterior windows, vacuumed, Comma A/C aircon cleaner then broke out the AutoGlym Vinyl & Rubber
All the interior dash / inserts / door cards and door rubbers / centre console / gear knob / steering wheel etc got the full treatment......lashings applied and allowed to soak in before buffing up.

Smells and looks great and the interior re trim still looks great............no loose edges or issues of any kind.

Do post an image or two of the Astra too here... I am too considering the wrap but piano black given that the car is black outside, black styling pack and black interior. The glossy black may look better than the brushed alu. Only reservations I have is it will attract/show dust like anything if it is anything like my AV cabinet at home!

^^^^ X2 as similar spec to mine, although will probably go for a black carbon weave ala S6, neighbour has one with this and will look (IMO) more OEM

Yep Jim post up some pics of both...ensuring your son gets some royalties natch! :p

I'll see what I can do.

The piano back turned out great too, my son was well chuffed and loves the look, personally I'm not so sure about the combo but its his car and he's happy, thats all that matters.

The results look amazing. Will need to do mine as my trim panels have loads of little scratches from previous owner. He must have kept some oversize hedgehogs in it as its marked everywhere!
That vinyl would look great on the mirrors too. I'm thinking of either wrapping mine or buying some aftermarket housings of the net.
I wrapped my passat interior trim panels including area around speedo binnacle with silver carbon fiber look off ebay.
It looked factory when finished and was easy to do. All I needed was a stanley blade and hairdryer to help mould around corners. the stuff is easy and forgiving to work with. For anyone thinking of having a go themselves I would recommend, its easier than it looks.

Sorry they're not the greatest pics, its actually quite hard to take decent interior shots.

Here's the before pics ( to be honest I actually prefer the std silver / aluminiun type effect ) stock

Here are the after Piano black effect wrap that he was looking for, well pleased with the results which is just as well as its his car not mine...lol

Fit n finish were great too

Not my place to say how it looks but we have an Astra H in the family and I think your sons conversion for the dash and doors look great mainly because the stock silver plastic looks quite tacky. I wouldn't have done the steering wheel though.
Either way, the look of the piano black looks very nice. I'll probably look at doing this myself if I can find some place "down souf"

Thanks ChA6dders........I love it and am glad I did it. The bulk of my trim was all in excellent condition with only a few very minor scratches, but the centre console was starting to look a little worn with a few sposts where the paint effect had worn off.

Now it all just looks like new, with an even better finish IMO

Nasty scratches on my centre console... Looks rather tatty. How can I fix? What about plastic trim dipping? This is an old post , but I am interested

Plastic Dips durability will be about 1 day in an interior IMHO... I'd opt for wrapping it myself or getting it done professionally ☺

I thought wrapping is the same as dipping... I will go for the wrapping thing
