Hi all,

Had an almost perfect sunday morning journey today - most of it was thinking how well the car is running and how smooth it all felt.
Got off the motorway, got into the carpark, into reverse and... bang

Annoying lip in a black metal gated fence so to speak which you can't always see especially when the car is black and clean.

What was strange however is that I felt the sensors were delayed...it was a case of "beep beep""beep beep""beep beep""BANG""beeeeeeeeeeep"

So I may have managed to find a bumper that is new and already painted in brilliant black - is it difficult to replace?
The holes for PDC are present - again, are the sensors difficult to move over?

Going to ring my indy to see if they can do it for me but thought I would get the facts first.

Also does anyone have a part-number for it (2008-Le Mans 4f/c6 pre-facelift Saloon)? I am not sure whether the standard SE rear bumper is different to the S-line/Le Mans one

The damage is scuffing in the paint and a ding in the bumper which feels like a crack now

To be honest it's not really looking that bad from the photo! It may be worth speaking to a ding and dent company first see what it would cost to repair if possible.

I'll take it tomorrow to the Indy as it's on my way home to see what he thinks. They have a bodyshop they work with opposite them
Otherwise £150 for a new bumper already painted (original too) isn't too bad. There is a scuff mark in the middle where paint has come off so that's why it gave me the idea of changing the whole lot.
I'm hoping having kept it well detailed, the paint will probably look very close to the rest of the body despite 5 years of weathering

I had a similar bump earlier this year.. Cost £50 to repair and paint! And was a great job...

Cheers
Mailed a couple of smart repair guys and chipsaway so lets see what happens
The bumper I'd found ended up being for 2009> so the facelift version. I'm assuming this does not fit the 2008 version

You can place a facelift rear bumper on an Avant but not on a Saloon ...

The taillights, tailgate and bumper shape differ greatly on Saloon between facelift and prefacelift, but people have retrofit'd the lot Link:- Audi A6 4F pre face lift with face lift upgrades questions ... TBH IMO a bodyshop should easily be able to sort out your current bumper ...

Just like AlyM's price/suggestion a mate of mine had similar issue with his Monaro, it was done for about £50 and we could not tell the difference on pickup or later once home ...

Cheers gups
Had the indy's bodyshop look at it and he has quoted £300 all in - includes removal of bumper, fixing of damage and respraying the whole bumper.
To be honest, for that price, I can grab a new bumper
Got chipsaway coming round to have a look at it so lets see how that goes

May have to start drawing a line I think on how much I spend looking after the car in terms of cosmetics
