View Full Version : MOT Advisory - OIL Leak?!?!

Had MOT 2-3 weeks back and one of the advisories was 'Oil Leak'. So nice of the inspector to guess what the problem is but what he could actually see is oil staining down the back of the block. The issue is that I am trying to sell the vehicle and I need to investigate. I have no excessive consumption or oil patches (but I guess the tray catches any). Any suggestion on where to look? gaskets? breather? Any suggestions appreciated!

Some investigation and looks to start from the back of the cam cover, along the 4 torx bolts. How easy/difficult is that to fix/replace?
Did you have any injector recall done ? if so was a new gasket used and was it tightend correctly ? Cam cover gasket is a good place to start.

I have had the injector recall done, excuse my ignorance but does the cam cover have to come off for that?

Sure does, not only are your cams under there but also your injectors and glow plugs on many B6 models.

It might be blow back coming from the sump plug.
