Was thinking of changing up from a RCD 310 to an RNS 510.

Its a long time since I have had anything other than the standard radio in the car and just wondered if these
were a hoodie magnet :)

Has anyone had any experience with theft of these or other after market models...as I didnt want to fork out £400
only to have it nicked!

i wear a hoodie, not because i am a thug but because they are practical.
anyway, got 12 of these radio's, you just need to sort the code out and jobs a goodun.

When I got my JVC KW-NX7000/E techie said to always remove front panel as they were (then in 2009) a theft magnet. So up until a couple of years ago did just that. But there hadn't been a map update since 2009 (until Dec last year but don't say anything) So they're not now the thieves' theft of choice.
Went for a full valet early last year and had the JVC logo-printed radio's front panel pouch nicked... Yo bla...

Had mine since 2008 with no trouble. used to be parked in allsorts of different carparks when I was working with no trouble. I takes a bit of getting out of the frame as its well bolted in so not really a smash and grab job.

Now I have said that, hope I am not tempting fate. Touch wood. (no not that wood):naughty:

There was a spate of thefts recently in the Leeds area. They caused quite a bit of damage too, not only breaking the glass but ripping wiring out. Was a thread on another VW Golf forum about it including a members car. His was parked at Leeds airport in a so called secure car park.

Mine went from my MK6 Golf this week - broken passenger side window, fascia removed, bolts undone and gone - probably took 2 mins. VW are quoting my insurers nearly £4k for a replacement
