I haven't posted here for ages but I felt I needed to tell someone.

I have just ordered an A4 allroad for September delivery. The spec:

2.0tdi manual
Glacier White metallic
Black Milano Leather
Heated Front Seats
Aluminium Trigon Inlays

I can't wait!

Glacier White is very nice, seen it on the new A3 and it looks awesome.

No nav?

Yes, Glacier White really suits the allroad. I did consider Moonlight Blue but it's a bit dark and I've had 3 black cars and wanted a change!

No, no nav. I have a Garmin that I rarely use.

Moonlight blue would be a direct comparison to my Night Blue on the A6, very dark deep blue, I like it!

Ah fair enough, I didn't realise until I had my A6 to how much I rely on the nav ;)

My wife liked the moonlight blue but we both felt it would be nice to have a change of direction colour-wise. In fact, it's maybe a subconscious return to the colour of our very first car - a pastel white H reg VW Beetle 1300 deluxe. I still think about that car!

The allroad is based on the SE spec of the 'normal' A4, but you have to pay an extra £155 for the aluminium trigon inlays that are standard on the A4. Otherwise I assume you just get a bit of plastic? I was tempted with the walnut inlays but I think the aluminium will look more modern!

It's nice buying a new car (this will be my 3rd in 30 years + motoring) but I find the choice of colours etc bewildering. I seem to go round and round in circles before I decide the spec - and then wonder if I've made the right choice while I wait for the car!

I saw an A5 a couple of weeks ago whilst out on my 'DPF run' and it looked gorgeous in glacier white. There was an AMG Merc behind it in their shade of white, and it was nasty by comparison (which I have to admit is my general feeling toward most white cars). I reckon Audi have got the shade just right.

Well done on order the Allroad, you will be very pleased with it. I find the extra height makes the drive smoother and in the snow it was awesome.

Cheers Nick. We live in a rural area and we have been affected in recent years by flooded roads as well as snow and ice, hence the need for raised ride height and quattro. But we don't want a big 4wd, and the allroad seems a good compromise.

Which model do you have? Sorry, I've just read your 'footer' - a highly-specced allroad!
