I have a 2004 A3 TDi Sport that 3 days ago the power steering warning light came on (glows Red) . It comes when I start the car (and the steering is very heavy) and then goes out (and the power steering returns) after about 20 minutes of driving and sometimes it stays on for the entire journey even when ive been driving for over an hour. Could it be a steering module? Or, corroded terminal?

I realise others have posted similar issues but they seem to be ones that are fine when started and then come on. Mine is the reverse, so I'm hoping this might be a different issue.

Any help would be appreciated

you need a code read to be able to diagnose it.

Thanks, booked in for tomorrow. Turns out Audi charge £79.95 for diagnosis.

Think its time to get the fault read software and cable for my laptop!

Don't want to scare you but the A3 suffers from failure and its not a cheap fix.
My daughter's had to have a new rack.

Thanks,
I've seen that on here with others who have a similar issue. I'm hoping it's an electrical issue as it intermittent. But fortunately, I do have a dealer warranty that covers replacing the rack.
