Hello
I have just bought a 2011 a6 saloon 2.0 tdi se i was told when i bought it, it has ipod connectivity through bluetooth which it does but i cannot control the playlists or change tracks just forward the track. the only other means of connecting a ipod is a 3.5mm aux jack will this enable me to scroll through my playlists and change artists and so on or do i have to get the ami installed if so do you know how much.

AUX wont allow scrolling, you control everything from the phone itself.
I found that when using the streaming music, if you start your phone on Shuffle (I like a variety;)) it will continue to shuffle thru the car.

Thanks for the info, is there anything i can retofit
In theory, AMI (Audi Music Interface) can be retrofitted. Do you have the RMC (basic) or MMI 3G+ (high) system installed in your A6? I remember reading it's trickier to retrofit in RMC cars, although A8 Tech has managed it I think.
Cheers!

I had AMI retrofitted using the Kufatec kit (which is the OEM kit that Audi uses) as the dealer could not source an already built car with AMI ftted.

Hi thanks for the info how do i tell if it is rmc basic or mmi3g+
If the sat nav is using one of the SD cards in one of the dash slots then it is Basic, if it has a hard disk in the glovebox then it is mmi3g+. Most likely that you have basic. can't comment overall on complexity but it took the guy about an hour to fit mine on my drive and seemed fairly straightforward, if somewhat disturbing to see the interior of your 4 week old car being disassembled

Do you have Google Maps and online services? Do you have a sim card slot between the SD card slots? If yes, then you have MMI 3G+. Otherwise you have the SD-card based RMC system. The hard drive for MMI 3G+ isn't in the glovebox, it's integrated into the 5F multimedia unit in the dash (where the sim card slot and SD card slots live). The slots have a fold-down flap to cover them in MMI 3G+ but not in RMC. You can see an MMI 3G+ 5F unit in this pic from my car (the flap over the slots says "Audi multimedia":

This car here had RMC fitted - My 2013 (SE) A6 Courtesy Car .. (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?142091-My-2013-(SE)-A6-Courtesy-Car&highlight=2013+courtesy)
As Mark says, you can see the difference when you see the Audi Multimedia slot

You will also need a new insert for the arm rest as the factory fit one for cars without AMI has a 3.5mm socket and for the AMI version you need one with the AMI socket. You will also need to get the AMI cable from Audi based on the type of device you wish to connect. (Blue grommet - Most iPods and iPhones, Red Grommet - iPod Touch 2G on, iPhone and previous gen iPod Nano this will allow you to display album artwork and play videos) For the latest iPod/iPhone devices probably best to get the red cable and then use the Apple Lightening to 30pin adaptor. Does not allow you to play videos but does everything else.
