Hi all,
I have just noticed that I have a slight bulge on the side of one of my rear tyres. It's quite small - about the size of a 10p coin - and was wondering whether I may need to have it changed. The overall condition of the tyre is fine.
Any advice would be appreciated :beerchug:

a bulge means the carcass is weakened at that point, probably due to impact damage. at some point it will fail, so yes, you need a new tyre. my advice would be to drive carefully to get a new tyre and if that journey takes you over 30mph i would put the spare on first.

Thank you for the advice. I will get it changed first thing tomorrow. It's hard to believe that something which looks so innocuous can be so dangerous!

its only dangerous when it lets go, which will probably be on a motorway .

Do you know all the bits of tyre you see on the sides of the motorways? (sometimes accompanied by a smear on the dividing wall)
They probably had the same problem
Get it changed rather than take a chance.
