Probably a really simple one but when I put my 2.0 multitronic into manual mode is there any way to have the car advise me when to change gear?

If so how do you activate it?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure when I had the loan C7 out it didn't do this.

When then engine sounds really high pitched whining sound is generally a good time to change gear ;)

With VCDS you can enable the lap timer function which includes a set of change up bars as well as oil temp, boost gauge and the lap timer itself.

Your car would need to be mid 2012 on for this to work, and I don't know if anyone has done it with a 2.0, mine is 3.0 BiTDi.

The 2013 SE didn't support the lap timer.

You would definitely need colour DIS I guess

Correct, but remember Mark's 2.0TDi S-line didn't support it either so probably depends on engine etc.

His was/is an early one, we've still not got to the bottom of all of this, need some of these newer chaps to give it a try on various engines etc

True, well both my cars are due a service <2000 miles so I will try and make a point of getting a A6 S-Line on loan so I can have a look.

Is that a sensible idea? You came away itching to buy one after the SE!

Rats, thats right!

If its a multitronic again I'll be giving it back, but if I end up with a BiTDI then they'll be keeping my C6!

I don't have a multitronic so can't look, but was wondering whether in the efficiency setting on the DIS (one click down from the trip computer and shows how much fuel your heated door mirrors are using etc) it also displays the optimal gear in the same way as it does on the manual (one click up from when it displaying fuel use by ancillaries etc). This is separate to the "display gear" setting in the MMI.

Mine's a 2013 sline 2.0tdi. I'll try the efficiency setting tomorrow and see if that works. I have colour dis but cannot see an easy option to enable it- thought it was just me!!
