Any help with these really URGENTLY needed!! Tax out today, MOT out, got to scrap if no solution!!

So my symptoms are:
1. glow plug light started flashing while driving a few weeks ago (may/may not be related..other fault codes in evidence)
2. engine began sounding rough at start up and in idle
3. suddenly pushing down on accelerator pedal has almost no effect on revs, increasing them by about 100 revs from idle to idle + 100 (ish)

I have been using BIODIESEL (home made, probably not as well made as it should be!!) and someone mentioned the fuel pump today....I did some reading on the fault codes, and saw that the fuel pump is indicated, just wanted some more info/guidance....before I commit to buying a 2nd hand pump on ebay and trying it out..

thanks so much - in advance - to anyone who can help!!

Has the car got a cheap tuning box? They seem to cause this fault on some engines.

Could you clear the codes and rescan for us?

Also does it not say 'nicht fur biodiesel' inside your fuel filler flap?

Hi fellas, thanks for the input!
Q1 - I don't know if the timing box is cheap or not I will look today - or if it's simply been fitted badly...I would have thought that the problem would show before now if so though because it was fitted about 30/40k miles ago. (although perhaps it's on it's way out?)
Q2 - a) the owner's manual says its fine for bio-deisel, so the the fuel filter will not say "Nicht fur..." (I will double check though). On this issue though I believe that the previous owner may have let the fuel tank get too wet as I cleaned out the fuel uptake sender that's in the tank a few months back, when fuel flow problems started in earnest, and it had a lot of - i mean A LOT - of orangey/yellow crud hanging around the surfaces which is definitely NOT from my home made bio. I'm thinking now that if this crap is in the QA that could be my problem so I'm off to look now.
b) yes i will go now, first thing I'm doing is clear and rescan the fault codes.
will report back in a few hours....
Cheers!

Both your codes point to a remap/tuning box issue. The quantity adjuster error will always show up if there's a tuning box fitted, As A6_Chris said clear the codes and drive it for a bit. Ideally at least 10 start/stop cycles. What's the viscosity of your biodiesel like. Is it well lubricated? Throw 2 gallons of road diesel into it and change the fuel filter

Ok I see good point.
Well I'm roadside now by the vehicle... Cleared the fault codes ran a second autoscan straight after and no engine codes or abs for that matter.
I took some readings. When acceleration pedal is fully depressed I get a reading on group 15 comparing iq driver request which is 45.2 mg/str against iq actual which says only 28.6mg/str.
Any thoughts?

I think it's underfuelling, if it has a tuning box fitted, remove it. the only other thing I can think of is the TPS but it should show a fault code (doesn't mean that it will)

I don't think there is a tuning box.... How would I know?
I've tried running some diesel thru from a jar of diesel straight into the pump lines and it is no longer starting... Gonna have a look at the quantity adjuster on top and see if it need a clean....

You can really do anything with the quantity adjuster, that's not a quantity adjuster that's a fuel cut off solenoid. A tuning box looks something like this Performance Chip Tuning Box VW POLO 1.9 TDI +35 BHP 90 110 PS 66 81 KW | eBay (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Performance-Chip-Tuning-Box-VW-POLO-1-9-TDI-35-BHP-90-110-PS-66-81-KW-/200904111342?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2ec6d174ee) it's plugged into the loom near the pump

there is no tuning box then....do you mean CAN'T do anything with the QA? what if it's all gunked up ? i was going to have a look and clean it.

You can but you have to dismantle the pump it's not a roadside repair and you need to know what you're doing
