Hi guys. I am still indecisive. I am looking for new a motor, my choices are vw golf mk6 2l tdi, but after reading some horrors so started looking at audi a3 tdi. Was looking at 1.9tdie engine which seems most economical out of all of them. The question is "is it really what it says on the paper?"
how is the 2l Tdi engine?
Curious what mpg people get and what engines?

Hey daz i have both a 2010 golf mk6 2.0 tdi and an 2011 audi a3 2.0 tdi and i can say they are both great and have decent power delivery. In terms of fuel economy they both seem to average 50mpg in general driving and around 60 mpg on longer runs. If you keep you speed to around 60 on the motorway following the lorries ive had 70mpg out of them. The golf is the more practical car and is bigger inside plus it rides nicer as the audi has a firmer ride. But the audi is definitely quicker as i think its lighter and handles tidier. I also looked at the 1.9 tdi engine but was put off by the 5 speed gearbox and lack of power. Although there is only 35bhp more the 2.0 tdi feels much quicker and the mid range torque makes overtaking easy.
