I have a feeling that my mmi and maybe ami are not up to date. There is a setup option in mmi so wanted to update it to latest version.
Current version ends PO485.
I can't use the music stream app via Bluetooth or wifi so hope to get it working.
Have already tried Audi but they knew less than me.

Or are you trying to use an iPhone?

I have the google earth bt high 3G plus so have hdd.
2 things here not working.
Street view.
Music stream app on iPhone 5 via bt or wifi
The website says it should work for all a6 after 2011.
Thanks

Doesn't work on iPhone after a jailbroken 4 (not S) running a 3rd party rSAP server. If all of that is foreign to you, basically iPhones don't support the thing that Audis want to communicate fully on the data to allow Streetview and data sharing etc. It's a crying shame and has come up a number of times. There's a sticky thread about it at the top of this particular sub-forum.

I should clarify, that's for the data/streetview stuff. No idea what the other thing is, but my iPhone5 plays music via the bluetooth.

Although you do have the option of using a secondary sim in the car. Although currently there is only 1 contract that will support that ability to use the same number, it's an orange business only contract (Only useful to those who have can get a business contract) with a £3 per month feature for the added sim which auto diverts when enabled.

Even though the iPhone5 was jailbroken as of last week, the author of the rSAP Server software from the Phone4 has stated he thinks it will never be an option for the newer ones, which is a shame. Speaking as someone who attempted to shoehorn the older version of the software onto an iPhone5 and actually getting the car to find the device (that was a moment of elation) only to be kicked back to earth when finding it unable to actually connect, I know the stages of techno grief you are about to enter.

Just to clarify-I am aware if the issues around using my iphone and data sim together but these issues are not related because
I cannot get street view to work and I connect via separate sim in dash so should work I believe. It doesn't work however I connect and simply never get a street view option.
The music stream app I use when no sim is in dash. It should use data connection in iPhone 5 then stream via Bluetooth. I can stream music via bt. Can anyone else try? Maybe I am the only person trying to use this app!!
Thanks

Right. I can't help you on the data sim thing as I'm antiquated and refuse to get another sim just to get data working like it was sold to us as. I can try on the music stream app if you like, but if it's using the data connection on the iPhone5 then stream via bluetooth, that smacks a bit of the data issue that you say you already know about to me. Can you explain more and I'll give it a whizz?

Anyone know if this is possible? There is an option.
Short answer is yes the MMI software can be updated but is something that will probably need to be done by the dealer. I have the SD based MMI/Navigation option and can stream music via bluetooth from a variety of "i" devices so if you cannot do that then you may have older software. Perhaps another poster with the HDD and Audi Connect options can let you know what their s/w version is
You do need to have the "i" device disconnected from the AMI (assuming you have that) to be able stream over bluetooth and obviously turned bluetooth music streaming on via the MMI option. Can't speak for street view as I don't have that. You say you have a 2012 car, when was it built/registered as that will have a bearing on the sw installed. There seems to have been a change in the sw around the May 2012 timeframe (to coincide with the model year production) so if your car was built before then it is likely it has an older version of the software

I have never seen Street View work either when zooming in on a map. I have a Galaxy S3 that connects in rSAP mode and data services work fine in all other respects. When navigating and using google maps, on arriving at my destination it does display a street view picture of the destination. Not been able to use Street View when simply browsing the map as you would when browsing google maps on the Internet.

John. My A6 is a 12 so March so if the software was updated in May then it will not be the latest version. So if that version enabled street view and allowed the app to work it could be the problem.
I have never seen any street view picture come up or allow me to view any other way.
Just tested the streaming. All other apps such as bbc radio player and tunein stream via Bluetooth. It is only the audi app that does not! The radio or music info does not show on mmi display however. It just shows what was last on my iPhone music player so another fault
Not sure why this is all so difficult. Audi must have a change log and confirm with their garages what each update does. Will ask them again!

No problem, hopefully someone with a newer car than yours with a similar setup can post their sw version number and that will give you something to go on. Hadn't realised that the problem was restricted to the Audi Streaming App, should have read your earlier posts more carefully!.

On mine, when a SIM is plugged in, Streetview works on T-Mobile/Orange/EE, does not work on Vodafone.
Audi just don't "get" data, I am afraid. They should just sack that part of their team (they're probably off-shore contractors anyway) and start again.
Nice cars otherwise.

i don't understand why they don't just have a bunch of people trying to innovate and improve as far as they can. This would really make them stand out as a brand!
Interesting that vodafone doesn't work, any idea about O2?
Andydb
12-02-2013, 01:04 AM
O2 does not work in mine but I might need a software update so maybe not the definitive answer for O2 sims.
I really don't understand why different networks would make any difference to street view working. I would have thought that if google earth works it means data is working and therefore street view should work. This would really complicate things!

Not sure about EU production dates but I know from a US Audi forum that Street View only came with the latest software version of MMI leading to many early A6 owners with Audi Connect trying to get their dealer to upgrade the software with mixed success. I suspect that will have been the case in Europe as well and therefore to get Street View and the Audi Connect app to work you will need a sw upgrade
EvilPostIt

With regard to getting the dealer to upgrade the software (if that is the issue). I would argue that if it was advertised on the car then an upgrade should be provided.

Is there not a mahooooosive thread somewhere on here on the google maps thing?
Try the A7 section or the in car entertainment section
Found it - http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?119062-MMI-Navigation-Plus-Online-Services-Mobile-Phones ;)

Thanks John.
I also think that if the car is advertised with the capability and therefore part of the purchase decision then the function needs to be there. The website advertises that all A6s from 2011 have this. Mine is a 2012 and 6 months old so for it not to have the latest software is crazy.
I will be asking for this to be done. If there is any argument then I would bet it would be that Audi may or may not reimburse the garage for the work. If Audi don't then that is wrong.

Now that is a thread Chris: MMI Navigation Plus / Online Services / Mobile Phones (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?119062-MMI-Navigation-Plus-Online-Services-Mobile-Phones)

Chris. The big thread you linked to is a different issue as it mainly discusses the biggest problem that we cannot use smartphones for in car calls and google maps at the same time. Would be nice if it was sorted but will leave that discussion to that thread!
My issues here are getting my software updated so that I can use functions that do work so will be asking for an update

I have had it explained, but am not sure I can remember the whole answer. It has to do with a deal between Apple and Vodafone that Apple data is treated differently and better by Vodafone than other people's, and that there is therefore a blockage of some kind put into non-Apple use of a SIM which is supposed to be used in an Apple device.
Hmmm. I can sometimes get Street View to work on mine with a Vodafone sim in the dash, but often it crashes and Google Maps restarts. My car was built 26/1/2012. Andy, when you say Street View does not work, do you mean it tries to display then hangs and crashes when you zoom right in to a street then zoom one click further, or do you just not see it even try to display Street View?
Cheers!
MF.

Just to add more to my have not gots-I can't get Audi online traffic information either. I can get basic traffic updates but not the map view as you see on google maps. I like google maps view as it shows a RAG status.
Anyone get this???!
Explained here on new Audi website faqs
FAQ Audi connect > Audi connect services > Audi Worldwide (http://www.audi.com/com/brand/en/models/infotainment_and_communication/audi_connect_services/faq_audi_connect.html)
Hi Andy,
This issue I have is that I never even get an option, pop up or anything to do with street view. Sounds like it may not work which would be another issue!
The only indication Street View is available is the little yellow man which appears next to the zoom level icon when you are scrolling around the map with the touchpad. If you stop the crosshairs on a road with Street View available (and if you have an online connection) the little yellow chap will magically appear:
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2129_zps95164ba7.jpg
You can then zoom in fully to 30 yards:
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2133_zps040e0a8c.jpg
The next click after this will transition you from the map view to Street View:
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2135_zpsa79f377f.jpg
Here is a video showing the transition - once in Street View you can pan around using the touchpad.

There are no options in the menu for "Street View". If you have your "Map Display" setting as Google Earth, you should get Street View inherently as part of this.

You need to enable it to get it to display on the map. The first time you select it, you will need to activate your three-year access plan for it. Thereafter, you can turn it on and off as you like. Press the MENU button, then select "Info", then choose "Settings". You should see the Online Traffic Data option in that screen.

MFGF, thanks for taking the time to explain this and the pics. I definitely cannot get any of this street view to show in any way. Don't suppose u know what mmi software version you have as if it is later then that must be the issue. Also how do I find when my car was manufactured?
Thanks

Hi Andy,
My MMI software version is HN+R_EU_AU_P0518. I got to this as follows:
1. Press MENU:
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2153_zps99d917ba.jpg
2. Press the top right softkey to select "Setup MMI"
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2160_zps469a0d66.jpg
3. Scroll down to the second page of options
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2162_zps156c1e8d.jpg
4. Select "Version Information"
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2164_zps65a9fd3c.jpg
To find the exact manufacture data of my car, first I had to find the VIN number. Here are the steps:
1. Go back to MENU and select CAR
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2153_zps99d917ba.jpg
2. Press the bottom left softkey to select "Car Systems"
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2154_zps83a01a90.jpg
3. Choose "Servicing & Checks"
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2156_zpseab0b6be.jpg
4. Scroll down and choose "Chassis Number"
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss35/MFGF1/A6%20C7/MMI%203G%20plus/IMG_2158_zpsb5e05b5d.jpg
5. Make a note of the number displayed on the screen.
Next, go to # VAG Cars Explorer - VIN Search Tool - VW * Audi * Seat * Skoda - Sponsored by TOPWAGEN.COM (http://www.woundride.com/vag/vin/test.php) and enter your VIN number into the field, then press "Submit Query"
You will get a message (in French) telling you that your vehicle details are not in the database, and to check back in 24 hours.
24 hours later, go back to the site and enter your VIN number again. This time it should return the details of your vehicle, with the top section looking something like this:
WAUZZZ4G*********
Désignation Commerciale : A6 Limo TDI2.0 R4130
Type de vente : 4G20TC
Usine d'assemblage : Neckarsulm - Allemagne
Date de sortie d'usine : 26/01/2012
Année Modèle : 2012
Type Moteur : CGLC > 1968cc TD - Common-Rail - 130kw (177cv)
Type Boite : NEJ
Code couleur : P5 > argent glacier metallise (LX7W)
The "Date de sortie d'usine" is the release date from the factory.
Cheers!

Is it worth having a sticky with software revisions and nav database revisions listed?
Andydb

MF, thanks again for info.
I could not get the french site to show me my car build date but my software is an older version than you have.
I have booked into Audi for them to check this all out next week.
I do think we need a sticky with this software version issue if mods can help add.
thanks

If you all want to group together and post the current version of mapping and firmware for the different MMI systems on the C7 then feel free and I can sort the sticky out if the info is provided :)

Had my car into Audi and streetview and the musicstream app are now fixed and working via a software update. bluetooth music info also now shows when streaming. Could not have the full online traffic info as shown on google desktop though as my car was produced in week 38 and only cars after week 45 can have. So renewed faith in Audi and good work by the garage to fix what Audi say themselves what should work.
Software version I now have ends 612_8.
Previous software version ending 0485 did not have streetview at all. Music stream did not connect as there was literally no AMS option in Media source.
Music stream stream means you can control your iphone music via car system as per cable I believe but no cable as it uses wifi tech dlna to control.
Thanks all for your advice on this thread.
Hopefully we will hear some positive news soon about getting the phone/data combo to work properly!
