Hi all

Have had a mini flood under the pax side carpet which has written off the bluetooth module (many thanks to Gup and his epic thread: The most Lemon Audi A6 Avant strikes again (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?139747-The-most-Lemon-Audi-A6-Avant-strikes-again) as I had the same problem)
I only discovered this when an attempted software update went wrong...

Anyway BT module now disconnected and a MOST bridge fitted, but MMI still a bit buggy and VCDS has given me this fault:

When you go into module 19 click on the "Installation list button" then you just uncheck relevant box & save...

Ross Tech have a good wiki as well... Link:- Audi A6/S6/RS6/allroad (4F) - Ross-Tech Wiki

Here another good link:- Ross-Tech: VCDS Tour: Gateway Installation List (http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/installation-list.html)

When Audi did not code my ECU correctly my ECU showed an error... maybe due to the flashing hiccup you are having this error :confused:...

If it does go away after editing the CAN gateway all good if not maybe a comparison with members concerning your codings/adaptations?

Right, I'm on it - MANY thanks!!!

I'm not sure which is most embarrassing, buying a car that has a distinct whiff of citrus fruit about it, or coming on here every 5 minutes pleading for help.
Sorry and thanks!!!

OK, removed item 77 'phone from the CAN gateway list, re booted MMI then re-scanned the Control Head and the fault remains:

I've done as you described (phone wasn't in the list), but fault remains....
Thanks for the suggestion though!!

IMO you need to double check the coding/adaptations in module 07...

You can build up coding/adaptations or check if they are correct in there by cross ref'ing the info in the VCDS wiki...

Link:- Audi A6 (4F) Control Head Front (High) - Ross-Tech Wiki (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Audi_A6_%284F%29_Control_Head_Front_%28High%29)

Post some screenshot's perhaps of coding/adaptations in module 07?

I was doing the software update today; running Disc 2, but before it was finished I had a small domestic drama and had to start/drive off in the car....

From what I remember disc 2 only does the BT units... so if disc 1 finished correctly all should have been done AOK to v5150...

Address 07: Control Head Labels: 4F0-910-7xx-07-H.lbl
Part No SW: 4F0 910 732 S HW: 4E0 035 729
Component: Interfacebox H43 5150

You can see in your VCDS log that 5150 update has been done...

Only if you feel comfortable if I was in your shoes you could run disc 1 of MMI update again... it will only apply updates if they need to be applied...

I'll have a scan later of MMI FW 5570 Disc 2 content later unless someone else is able to post you some info...

Do make sure all elec.connections are dry... before doing any update!

Thanks Gup - I'll take a look.... not too confident, as well as feeling a bit fed up with the car (and the potential waste of money), this level of car tech plus VCDS is very new territory.
Thanks again though!!

Trust me mate been there alot! maybe still there a little (the sad place :( )... you're talking to to someone who paid £10k for a very nice spec'd car A6... I've spent £5.7k ish in the past 16mths...

I was only gonna post to finish my threads... when I saw your original thread I couldn't stay away :Blush2: ...

I've got some bits to do of my own so can not give info right now... I will do you a video of mine (VCDS,Logs,etc) :) ...

Chin up mate! we (VWAF!) will get you through! :beerchug:... plenty of great owner posters & real techs!, this probably the best A6 section on the net! and trust me I trawl the net alot ;) ...

Have a break :) ... I watched a great movie last time in ages, otherwise I've been glued to the forum helping myself & others to get the info to make my car what I thought it was@purchase!

Have beer! I usually end up like this every night now!

Okay... video file 1.28Gb even off an iPhone instead of my proper camera :D...

SO now you've had a little break... have another :beerchug:...

Just re-encoding & uploading to youtube... be ready soon...

We will discuss checking/recoding/adaptation, etc...

After your investment in VCDS lets make use of it :) ...

*** Update ***

So this line equal label of module...

Address 07: Control Head Labels: 4F0-910-7xx-07-H.lbl

Here we have software part number of module and hardware partnumber...

Part No SW: 4F0 910 732 S HW: 4E0 035 729

Here in green is the hardware revision... in red is the software revision...

Component: Interfacebox H43 5150

Here is your coding...

Coding: 0001002

From the Rosstech 4F wiki

00?0x0x: Start Screen

0 = Audi A6 (4F)

00x?x0x: Chassis Type

1 = Avant (Wagon)

00x0?0x: Mute

0 = Mute-Wire inactive

00x0x??: Language

02 = English (GB)

So I hope you see how 0001002 is built up... I think your coding is correct....

Next for info for anyone who find this thread...

Here is the CAN gateway installation list video, uncheck/check of 77-Tel Link:- CAN gateway - YouTube (http://youtu.be/Lpjv16RbIQE)

When you code in/out an item sometimes a MMI restart helps things "press SETUP, BIG KNOB and top right soft button together"

Next the coding section, if you happen to close the helper balloon (the yellow box) just exit the coding section and go back in and it will return ... Link:- Coding Module 07 - YouTube (http://youtu.be/Ls4qCyVRU6o)

So next the adaptations...

This is video of my documented ones in VCDS...

http://youtu.be/1_imfZT9XN0

Some are explained here Link:- Audi A6 (4F) Control Head Front (High) - Ross-Tech Wiki (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Audi_A6_%284F%29_Control_Head_Front_%28High%29#Ada ptation)

Also use the helper balloons, if confused grab a screenshot by pressing "prtscn" on your keyboard the open paint and just paste via menu, then upload for others to view and help...

Now here some explaining of the Rosstech wiki...

Example 1

Channel 011: Additional MMI Options

+00001 = Owners Manual available
+00004 = Frequency/Source Change via Function Button active
+00016 = Driver Information System (DIS) installed
+00032 = Climate Control Comfort available
+00064 = Auxiliary Heating available
+00256 = AUX-IN installed

So in adaptation channel 11 the code is built up by adding items... mine was 53 (ref video above)...

+00001 = Owners Manual available
+00004 = Frequency/Source Change via Function Button active
+00016 = Driver Information System (DIS) installed
+00032 = Climate Control Comfort available

1+4+16+32= 53

Example 2

Channel 012: Telephone Type

0 = No Telephone
1 = Permanently installed
2 = Mobile Phone Base Plate installed
4 = Telematics installed

So in adaptation channel 12 the code is built up by selecting a digit... mine was 2 (ref video above)...

2 = Mobile Phone Base Plate installed

In my armrest I have the baseplate...

You can get some of your PR codes for factory fitted options from the data sticker in the boot/service log... (ignore the red highlight box)...

On the decoder site there is a helpful PDF explaining stuff as well Link:- http://prsearch.planetvag.com/

Next for more PR codes read this thread Link:- Back to basics! Where do you find the engine/trans code? (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?141299-Back-to-basics!-Where-do-you-find-the-engine-trans-code)

The last video which show manual cycling of my adaptations 01 -200 is taking a bit of time to upload... so swot up stuff and view when posted :) ...

(it won't be tonight must take break :) ) ...

Last but not least grabs these PDF's here will help you understand tech/stuff in car... Link:- Possible 'new' Owner - Page 3 (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?132903-Possible-new-Owner&p=719250#post719250)

Cylinder six should be bank 2 last one... this is how injectors/cylinders numbering work and glowplugs must be same... I've not done mine (no faults on them since owning :) ) will be doing them all soon for other reason...

http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg629/gupsterg/2_7%203_0%20TDi%20stuff/SwirlFlapMotorLabelled_zps7c13e1cd.jpg

Maybe Chris or another mod can move this and your last post to the glowplug thread...

If you do remove the part of the air intake/manifold something to read... Link:- Audi A6 2.7 & 3.0 TDi EGR & Intake system cleaning info please... (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?141451-Audi-A6-2-7-amp-3-0-TDi-EGR-amp-Intake-system-cleaning-info-please)

LoL
I was hoping to delete the question so as not to trouble you.
The (my) confusion was bought about by looking at a US site where they couldn't agree on which cylinder was at TDC with crank alignment marks set, added onto that the difference in which side the driver sits...
I'm burnt out already and I've only had the car 2 weeks.
I really appreciate your comments though - thanks A LOT:Blush2:

Here's my car's module 07 adaptations cycled from 01 -200...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS79SezClSQ

Now keep an eye on the MMI screen as when I think I went past 111 the radio screens kept changing so those adaptations are irrelevant as those to me seemed related to the radio function and my belief is they are something to do the the self-tuning radio feature...

Again use these as video for reference... use the helper balloons... anything without a balloon grab a screenshot post and ask and someone maybe able to help you...

You may wanna start post info like what MMI kit you have in car... ie AMI, DAB, DVD sat nav, etc...

Post PR codes? more info better people can help... even though VCDS notes changes make your own on paper...

Do the PR codes from your data sticker as well and post... you can see adaptations also relate to other bits in module 07...

The site which gets you the most PR codes will take 24hrs plus ... sometimes it can be down... Link:- http://www.woundride.com/vag/vin/

I downloaded the data file they give on there, then opened in notepad and paste the PR code section in here Link:- http://igorweb.org/equidec/ and manually separate them with a semi-colon got me them in English...

Here's some screenshots to ref...

1. Download the data file...

http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg629/gupsterg/VIN%20PR%20codes/01_zpsb34b13a5.jpg

2. Copy the PR code section... yours maybe more or less data...

http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg629/gupsterg/VIN%20PR%20codes/02_zps8c9268b3.jpg

3. Paste in this decoder, manually place semi-colons... Link:- http://igorweb.org/equidec/

With many thanks to Gup and his remarkable patience, the fault is now cleared.
The reason was although I'd deselected telephone from the list, the adaptation coding (?) still reflected the handset base in the armrest. Changed that and code gone.
