Having had my2.5tdi for a couple of months, and having had nothing to post about in the way of problems,I have been able to peruse the forum at my leisure, getting to know the strengths of some of the contributors, and being greatly impressed by the knowledge they have aqquired.I am happy with the Quattro, even though I feel it is a bit slower than my avf remapped Passat.I think the remap I had done on the Quattro was not the best, and should have gone to GTI for the extra £50,but having never driven a 2.5tdi Quattro before,I don't know what to expect. They are a lovely long distance car to drive, and cruising in three digits when the traffic allows is effortless, even for my wife! They seem so well planted on the road compared with my Passat, which was a well sorted car running gear wise!I am driving on Avon 773's at the moment, and whilst they are ok,I think I will change next time, probably back to goodyears, which,on my passat were amazing.By the way,why does anyone with a performance car fit budget tyres?
I hope not to be a bore, and would welcome any views/opinions/recommendations,to help me enjoy my A4 to the full.Cheers lads,Rod.

Great to hear the a4 is running strong. Unfortunatelly the later pumps in the v6 tdi audi's are limited to about 50Mg per stroke so they won't feel as fast as early a4/a6 2001 quattro's which have no fuel limiters ! Also do not forget the a4 has a fat "bum" nearly 1700Kg ! What they lack in term of acceleration they do gain in smoothness, they are great motorway cruisers ! You need to pop down to london so i can give a good once over and also i could upload a tweaked map i am using in my car at the moment !
Early cars had alloy intercoolers and run higher fueling and boost. I am sure yours with a hybrid turbo, alloy intercoolers and a set of nozzles will feel wicked ! I took a standard audi s4 b5 avant for a drive today and to be honest my lardy a6 could keep up with no problems !!! That's a higher displacement, high revving petrol engine with 2 turbo's !!!

After having a look at Rod's audi a4 today we managed to find out why the car did not seem to pull too well with an aparent "custom" remap ! The place he paid to upload a remap ended fitting a PSI tuning box hidden inside the ECU box ! It was the wrong tuning box for the year and i do not understand why a big garage will go to the trouble of fitting a tuning box when the ECU on the b6 audi's are easy to flash trought the OBD port. Not only it was the wrong box but the garage made a mess of the ECU wiring loom as they spliced the box in which nearly resulted in a bricked ECU as it would not comunicate properly when about to upload the tweaked map ! Ended up putting the car back to standard and Rod is going to chase them for his money !!!
