Boot opens when ignition switched off

On the avant, started during recent snow, boot unlocks/opens when I turn ignition off?!
Lift tailgate and shut but it doesn't fully engage, then unable to lift it again!
Anyone seen this before?
Wanted to check before I start dismantling the tailgate :-\

Is the rear washer leaking ?Possible water in the lock

Water everywhere! Lock dried out, connectors cleaned, works fine again.
However, wiper motor packed up :-(

Have a look at gup's thread where he refurbished his wiper motor.

Took it apart at the weekend and it's doesn't look salvageable.
The corrosion would have to be chipped off with a chisel, not a wire brush job :-(

Bit the bullet and got one on eBay for £85.

Make sure to fix the leak.There s/b a strong jet otherwise its not 100%
