Hello, wondering if anyone can help, I was driving home tonight and came to a junction and pressed clutch in and it stayed down. I managed to flick it up and it worked till next junction and got me home. Now it is stuck on the floor and does nothing. Read a bit and topped fluid up and pumped and it came back for a bit. Fluid was down again so feared a leak. But couldn't see anything. Backed the car off a few feet and then noticed the puddle of fluid but its on the other side, under the battery all over the under tray. The highest point I can see fluid is on what looks like a brake pipe clipped to the engine.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Car seems undriveable so need to have a go at fixing it myself if possible as I live miles away from a garage.

you will have to identify where the leak is and replace the part

Check the pipe coming from the reservoir to the clutch first, then check the cylinder.

Thanks, I don't suppose anyone knows if I can replace the cylinder easily, I am reading at the moment and it seems some are internal and the box needs dropping.?.
I will check the pipe but want to try and pick up a few bits tomorrow to have a go tomorrow night.

If its concentric (inside) you wont be able to see it, otherwise you will see it bolted to the side of the box. Engine size and code would help

I'm 90% sure its bolted to the gearbox, follow the pipe from the reservoir to the slave check for cracks, leaks etc, if it's the slave just replace it and bleed it
Sounds like the slave cylinder has failed - it may look similar to either of these

You probably want the dearer one but as it's £70 or less from VW, why not go to them and get the right part with a guarantee.
