Passat B6, 4 wheel Aligment query

As above guys, having come from the BMW world of 4 wheels alignment always, does the passat B6 estate need a full 4 wheel alignment especially after lowering or any suspension changes/work

i have a hunter system not far from me, its about 80 quid for a full 4 wheel alignment

To the best of my knowledge you just need a 2 wheel alignement for the passat...or at least that's what I get myself...correct me anyone if I'm wrong :p

do you get the usual laser alignment for about £30 or the hunter camera style front only for about £40?

i was thinking about getting some H&R springs for mine to drop it 35-40mm as its only my workhorse car but it seems a bit bouncy and spongy LOL

No prob pal...I generally get the usual laser alignment myself.

If your considering lowering your passat just be aware that the ride will be much stiffer. When I bought my car it was already lowered 40mm and although it looks a lot sportier the car really bangs off every pothole and speedbump whereas I'd hardly even notice them driving my girlfriends focus. You wouldn't to be too tall or your head will go through the roof going over speed bumps lol.

If that doesn't bother you too much then its worth lowering

no that's the thing i don't want is smashing on potholes, i was reading up about the H&R springs and many people said the ride was good

i would like 19inch rims for the looks department but i know the ride is going to get ruined with them on, maybe a 17 or 18 would be a good compromise? :approve:

yeah from what i've heard the H&R springs would be one of the better ones.

I have the 17'' monte carlo alloys on my car...but with the car lowered 40mm they look like 18''. Its up to yourself what you want to do obviously...but I wouldn't go for a 19''. Dont get me wrong I love the look of big rims on a car but I've heard alot of stories of people putting bigger rims on their cars and because the rims are bigger and heavier they put an extra strain on the car and over time can damage things like your drive shaft or even your gearbox.

If you got 17'' with the car lowered that would probably be your safest bet...thats what i would go for anyways :D

yes i agree with you while the 19 route looks pretty they stuff handling and economy up due to to gyroscopic effect and rotational weight that the car has to keep moving, also you feel every bump due to the 30/35 profile tyres

i think 17 may be the route i will go for, and tyres are not silly money either !

4 wheel alignment all the way. Do a search for saw tooth rear tyres.
