Not much heat and engine fan blowing

Hi guys, more noticable in the cold, my car doesnt give off much heat, only just gets warm, and I've noticed that my temp guage only just goes above 50, I have no problems with starting or overheating at all. And if I go on a short journey, the engine fan will blow at full blast until the battery dies, I presume this could be a faulty sensor, but could this also be why I'm not getting any heat, or the temp guauge not rising?

I have a petrol 2.0 fsi.

Firstly change your thermostat,then see how it goes.

Yes check the sensor but it also seems that the stat has failed thus no heat
