Hello all,Im after a bit expert advice.Im having a problem with my boot, initially the problem was that the boot wouldn't latch shut what so ever so even when the central locking was pressed, the boot would not shut so was constantly unlocked which showed up on the display as open. I assumed the solenoid had gone but after a bit of research it seems that it is quite common due to water coming from the washer pipe and/or rear wiper grommet which also has been known to set off the alarm randomly (this happens to mine also as apparently it sets off the boot sensor). The day after the problem I took off all the trim inside and manually locked the boot, the dash still showed it was open.
When I had a bit more time I investigated further,I had to now unlock the boot from the inside by pulling the rod which attached to the solenoid (I had to slacken off the solenoid from the chassis to be able to do this).
I then looked for obvious signs of any damage in the wiring but was unable to see any, although there were a few drops of water inside the car even though it had been shut constantly for a day or. 2.
After a bit of advice I had found that a few pointers, I used some wd-40 in the latch, pressed dwn the switches under the bonnet and pressed the wires in the boot.
After doing this I pressed the boot release and it made the usual opening noise,so I reattached the solenoid to the chassis and it worked, the warning had gone off the dash too...success!!! Then when I tried again after that it wasn't working so I'm back to square one, I am a little unsure where the problem lies now as the latch doesn't seem to move very freely but I'm unsure if the solenoid is working either, even though the warning is off now and the latch is shut unless I open from the inside manually. Any help with how to proceed would be much appreciated and if someone can diagnose this it would be most welcome, I am looking to fix this myself ideally and soon if possible.PLEASE HELP!!!!
Many thanks...
