I didnt realise that the Avant did not have self-leveling suspension at the rear (I dont have the fancy suspension option on my car).... but is this really an issue? What is the experience of anyone who has fully loaded up their Avant? Did the load at the back make the car tilt up at the front? What was it like when driven? (since the A6 in the 2.0TDi and 3.0TDi (204) is front wheel drive)...

Just trying to understand if this is a real issue or not

I have pulled a 15 foot twin axle car transporter with an Octavia on it, you'd not really notice much difference it was a 110 A4

I had 4 x 19" wheels/tyres, tool sets, jack, stands and some other bits last night and it was fine. My MPG was a couple down though.

I had mine loaded last week to extent a roof box might have been better to spread the weight and kit and was ok, didn't sit as low at the rear as I thought it would though dropped a few mpg

Thanks for all the responses - I was a bit concerned that the A6 didnt have a load balancing rear suspension - but clearly it's not an issue.... I will happy load my car for our camping trip...

On a tangent to this, does anyone understand the gross weight limit that Audi quote? Does this give us an idea to max load weight?

For my car they list unladen weight @ 1650kg but Gross weight @ 2360kg. What does the 700 odd kg difference actually mean?

The gross weight is the maximum permissible weight, so if five fat people, their luggage and a tank of fuel weigh more than 710kg, you need to have a re-think or go on the bus.

Or send one fat person by bus, laughing and pointing as you drive past.

Thought you would struggle to get 5 fat people in a A6..... SHould be walking healthy living and all that.
